I offer a non-judgemental breathing space in which you put the World on hold and, with no one making demands on you, reflect, pinpoint what’s really troubling you, get to the root cause then choose what, if anything, you want to do about it.
I work with those seeking to reduce anxiety or boost self-esteem, couples caught in “Groundhog day” disagreements which keep escalating into rows and spoiling an otherwise good relationship and those seeking freedom from bouts of overeating that feel compulsive, addictive even, known as emotional eating, comfort eating or binge eating.
I’m an “integrative” counsellor meaning once I’ve met you, I blend several types of therapy just for you (jargon you may have read like CBT, person-centred, humanistic, psychodynamic, mindfulness) and attune to you rather than shoving everyone through the same process regardless of preferences or needs.
Research shows of the factors which determine how well therapy is likely to go our therapeutic relationship accounts for 30% of likely success, hence “relational” and my studying a degree which taught me how to make best use of our relationship.
I run a private practice from Weybridge. Before training as a counsellor I worked for 28 years in the private sector so I have experience of the stresses and strains of balancing work and life and the ups and downs of life generally.
I've worked as part of the teams delivering counselling to patients at two busy GP surgeries and a BACP accredited local charity offering counselling for anxiety and depression.
