About me and my therapy practice
The nature of being alive means that sometimes life will be difficult and challenging. Having someone independent, to talk to and that you can trust at those particular times can be really helpful.
Over the course of nearly 20 years experience I have learnt that counselling is effective when people feel empowered inwardly by the process. I therefore strive to understand your unique situation whist trusting and facilitating your ability to make choices based upon what is best for you and your life , even when your circumstances feel unmanageable, devastating or uncontrollable in the moment.
Practically this means I will not tell you what to do, make judgements about your circumstances, steer you or advise you. Instead what I will provide a space for you to explore any concerns thoughts or feelings that are worrying you and are impeding your life. This can then allow you a clarity to explore ways in which you want your life to move forward
Practice description
I work out of my semi rural small office in Hampshire , close to Romsey / Winchester and Eastleigh. There is parking on site.
I also offer on-line Zoom and telephone sessions
My first session
Counselling is a relationship built upon trust and you must feel you can trust me in order that you can explore issues of concern that will then allow you to get the most out of our relationship . Therefore our first session is your chance to meet me and decide if I am the right person for you.I will explain boundaries and we will have a 50 minute session. If after this you decide that you want to go ahead then we will agree our times going forward. I usually suggest a block of 6 sessions to begin with lasting 50 minutes at a time. Days and times can be flexibly agreed between us. The decision to extend our sessions after 6, will always be yours.

About me and my therapy practice
I have been a qualified client centred supervisor working in Hampshire since 2006.
I have a varied supervision practise which includes counsellors in training/ qualified counsellors/ qualified supervisors plus community project workers and NHS nursing practitioners.
Areas where my current supervisees work include Universities, Sixth Form Colleges, Bereavement services, Substance Misuse services and Cancer services
Areas where I have supervised include GP Primary Care, Mental Health, Forensic Mental Health, Trauma including Sexual Trauma.
All my supervisee relationships are built collaboratively. I do not stand in judgement of my supervisees clinical work but rather in support and growth of it through challenge and reflective exploration. I experience my own growth as a counsellor and supervisor in my supervisory relationships
I consider The BACP ethical framework a working document and I utilise it in my supervisory work in order that ethics can be explored/considered and integrated into practice delivery through rationale.
