About me and my therapy practice
I am currently offering Zoom online sessions or walk and talk sessions in the Wilmslow area (subject to current restrictions).
Thank you for looking at my profile and I'm guessing you feel I may be able to help you.
I'm predominantly person centred and work in a relational way, believing the foundation of trust, safety and no judgement can help to pave the way for a successful counselling relationship where you will feel able to look at your needs with me.
I encourage you to trust in yourself as you are the expert in your life and I help you to consider what is important to you and ways that you can face the issues that you're finding so difficult at this point in time.
I will help you to find your voice, to use it and to be heard, whether that is for one to one support or as part of a couple or family group.
I've been qualified for a number of years and I've worked with adults in face to face and online work. I created a family service for a Trafford Charity and have delivered family counselling to family groups for the last 6 years. I've also worked in a person centred way, working creatively with primary aged children in a school setting for a national charity for 3 years. I managed a school practice in another primary for the same charity, supporting school staff, parents and carers.
I encourage you to consider your needs by raising your awareness of what is important to you. Together, we consider what you'd like to focus on and the best way to approach your needs.
I work with children through to older adults, individually, as part of family groups and I also work with couples.
I commonly work with and am trained to work with:
- relational issues
- losses such as bereavements, family changes such as divorce/break up, losses due to on-going illness
- attachment issues from childhood, now affecting relationships
- trauma and abuse
- depression and anxiety
- parenting difficulties
- family conflict
- companion animal loss and anticipatory grief
My first session
I offer 20 mins free of charge at the start of our first session for you to decide whether you feel you can connect with me and that I will meet your needs. I also try to gauge that I feel able to help you and that I will have the skills and experience to benefit you.
After the initial 20 mins, if we wish to continue we then explore more of the picture regarding what you're experiencing and we gain a greater understanding of how we can work together and how our sessions could begin to help you.
I encourage you to ask any questions or share any comments you need to. It's important that you can be honest about whether you feel I'm the right counsellor for you and that you can openly share those feelings with me, without fear of any judgement.
If you stay for the full session, I charge an introductory session fee of £35.
