About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for visiting my page.

No matter what stage of life you are in, finding the right person and taking those first steps may feel quite daunting, especially if you're struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and a deep sense of threat, or if you're experiencing a bereavement or relationship breakdown. Confusing emotions may be evoked, you may be finding unhelpful ways to deal with stress, or you might not even really know what's causing you to feel a sense of loss, so whatever has prompted you to seek therapy, you will find a confidential, empathetic, and non-judgmental, comfortable space to be truly listened to.

Not only will we think about your current issues, but we'll also look at what lies rooted in the past and how you cope today. By making sense of your experiences, a deeper level of awareness and self-acceptance can be found, bringing more meaning to your life. As a certified Trauma-Informed Therapist, I can also support your PTSD & CPTSD symptoms by helping you be 'here' instead of 'there', where new skills can be learned and integrated into your daily life.

Practice description

I have extensive experience supporting clients in dealing with difficult life events, where their experiences have been deeply transformative. This is not a one-size-fits-all approach, your experience is unique, so I offer what's best for you with compassion and healing at the core. I believe in the power of therapy and have witnessed how this process can enhance life on many levels.

Throughout our time together, you have the choice to dip in and out from talking therapy to mindfulness, and creativity, or by using EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) to tune into these uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, or troubling memories, where anxiety lessens, and healing and relief can be found.

My self-awareness, knowledge, and skills have developed throughout my clinical practice, and I am fully trained, inclusive, well-informed, and I make a regular commitment to continual professional development as there is always more to learn.

I have an Accredited BACP Membership evidencing a higher standard as a competent, ethical, and inclusive Practitioner. I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice and the BACP's Online and Phone Therapy (OPT) competence framework and I hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance and have an up-to-date DBS certificate.

Before working as a Counsellor, my background was in the education sector, mainly in secondary school settings.

My first session

The first and second sessions allow us to gain a deeper understanding of your current and historic experiences and relationships, and what has brought you to therapy, while paying close attention to how comfortable you feel.

I offer a free 30-minute telephone or online conversation to discuss your needs, and meeting for a 50-minute initial consultation will also allow you the time to decide if you feel comfortable enough to continue with weekly sessions. Once agreed, we will meet on the same day, at the same time, and go at a pace that's right for you.

I have a dedicated downstairs room with a separate entrance with one small step over the threshold. There is a toilet but unfortunately, this cannot be accessed via a wheelchair.

I am happy to answer any questions via phone or email and if you leave a message, I will respond once I become available and within working hours.
