About me and my therapy practice

**Update 5 August 2020**

(Note:  Students please do still contact me if you are requiring counselling for your counselling studies)

In life there can be feelings of anxiety (as there is now with COVID-19 and Brexit), confusion, isolation, loneliness, stress or a general feeling of being unable to cope. The saying ‘not being able to see the wood for the trees’ comes to mind as at times we can all feel stuck in patterns without knowing how to move forward.  Our feelings, thoughts and behaviours then impact on our home and work life affecting all relationships whether this be our most intimate, family, friends or work.

Speaking to a professional in a confidential setting away from day to day life who listens, understands and is trustworthy can help process thoughts and feelings enabling a greater understanding of your own life, patterns, choices and challenges. This can bring peace of mind and understanding which in-turn increases self-esteem and self-confidence.

I am a BACP accredited qualified empathic, down-to-earth, real, insightful and knowledgeable counsellor / psychotherapist. I feel my greatest strength is being able to put people at ease no matter what the issue.

I am integratively trained which, in short, means I incorporate a range of different approaches which I adapt to suit your own needs.

(For counselling students I offer concessions. My training is Clarkson relational.  Please do contact me regarding your individual requirements)

Practice description

I work from a first floor office in a Business Centre off the Portsmouth Road in Ripley.

Access is via a communal door and then straight up a flight of stairs (no lift).  There is no reception / waiting room and there is no contact with anyone else so confidentiality is ensured.

My office has an assigned parking space for convenient parking.

My first session

It is always a pleasure to meet new client(s) in an initial sesssion and put a face to a name(s).

Individual counselling:-  On arrival I will briefly go through confidentiality and then I lead with a few questions which lets me know a bit about yourself and what is bringing you to counselling.  This is an opportunity for you to ask me any questions and for us to discuss how we could work together moving forward.   This initial session is offered complimentary for individuals.

Couple counselling:-  You will have already emailed me back your pre-assessment forms so this initial session is held in the here-and-now looking at what you both want from your relationship together and us discussing how we will help you get there.  This initial session is £30 for couples.
