About me and my therapy practice
Between Us Counselling gives you a safe, confidential space to reflect and explore your world, without judgement or being told what to do. Helping you take a ‘helicopter’ view of your life and your relationships, see yourself from a new perspective and so find a way forward.
You will always be the one who knows the most about you. So my approach is Person-Centred Therapy.
My aim is to 'help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.'

Practice description
Counselling sessions with me give you an hour each week that’s devoted to you - to talk openly to an impartial listener about whatever is on your mind. To be heard, understood and supported, in confidence and without fear of judgment.
Person-centred counselling works on the principle that you know yourself best, so you lead the counselling with whatever you feel is most important. My aim is to build your self-confidence and autonomy, by really listening, understanding and noticing and how you feel. As the counselling relationship grows I will reflect back what I notice and together we can explore if you have other choices.
Boarding School Syndrome - Having a particular interest in this area, I carried out a research dissertation on the trauma and effects of boarding school and have taken further training in counselling former boarding school pupils.
You can read the dissertation here -

In November, 2023 I completed the 'Unmaking of Them' training course for therapists wishing to specialise in working with ex-boarders. My aim is to complete extra work and gain the diploma qualification attached to this course.
My first session
The relationship is everything, of course – so before booking counselling sessions, we’ll have a free 30-minute no-obligation telephone or Zoom meeting, so we can be sure we’re happy working together and that you’ll get what you want from it. We can discuss your needs and expectations of therapy and decide whether we’re a good fit.
If you are happy to go ahead, we can book sessions on a week by week basis or in a block, the choice is yours.
During the course of counselling, periodically we will review the progress together. If at any time (and for any reason), either of us feel that this way of working is not appropriate, we can discuss it and change the approach. This is very much a working relationship.
