About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Cindy and I am a qualified integrative counsellor. I remember how anxious I was going to counselling in the past, the thoughts were racing through my mind, what will I say? Will I be judged by the therapist? Is my session confidential? will anybody see me going in? All of these thoughts and feelings are normal reactions, until you start building up a trustworthy relationship with your therapist.
The first step you take is the hardest step to take.
My aim is to support, listen and hear you, allowing you the time to discover your own potential. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore any issues that may be overwhelming you or hindering you from moving forward positively.
We all know that the world we live in, is stressful. You may want to talk to a counsellor because you are overwhelmed, or stuck in an ongoing cycle of negative thoughts. You may not want to use a family member or a friend as a sounding board. People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons, not all bad. Therapy gives you a safe environment to explore what is happening in your life, this may include relationships, careers, anxiety, depression, grief, loss the list is endless.
I work in an integrated way, bringing together different elements of specific therapy depending on the individual's needs, for eg I would use a person centred approach for grief, or I would possibly use the rewind technique for a phobia in order for you to overcome your fear or I could use CBT therapy which will allow you to look a situation from a different point of view. Being Integrated means using all therapy techniques to benefit you the client.
Choosing the right therapist for you is extremely important. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information regarding my private practice. Remember there are no silly questions.
I am based in Bishop Auckland, however I can offer face-to-face therapy in Newton Aycliffe and Chester-Le-Street.

Prior to the first session, I will email you a counselling contract. any concerns or issues can be addressed within the first session.
If you do not have an e-mail address, do not worry I can go through the contract on the first session.
The first session is a great opportunity to meet and see how we will work together going forward.
