I work mainly during office hours, but I do have some flexibility, so please do enquire if 9-5 doesn't work for you. I currently have availability for online sessions via Zoom, for clients anywhere in the UK.
About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as a Psychodynamic Counsellor over 20 years ago and have 16 years of experience of providing therapy in an NHS setting. Over that time I have learned so much from colleagues and clients alike, and I would now describe my practice as Integrative, incorporating elements from other modalities, such as Person-Centred and Cognitive Therapy.
I have extensive experience of working with people who have neurodiversity (such as Autism Spectrum Conditions and ADHD) as well as people with disabilities (including learning disabilities) and their families. I have worked with people who have a wide range of mental health issues, including depression and anxiety. I have also provided training and consultancy in bereavement, all types of abuse, trauma, managing emotions and identity (including sexual orientation and gender identity).
I work online via Zoom face-to-face calls. I can therefore work with anyone, anywhere, regardless of postcode searches, physical access, and all the usual constraints of 'in-person' working.
I usually meet clients for 50-minute sessions, once a week. I am more than happy to be flexible and can adapt to longer or shorter sessions depending on what your needs are. We can work together for as long or short a time as you wish, without the pressure of time limits.
My first session
We will have a meeting to start with to get to know each other a little bit, so you can make up your mind about whether you would like to work with me. This will be for 30 minutes and at a reduced rate of £30. This is a chance to 'try out' therapy with me, to ask any questions, let me know about any specific needs or adjustments we can make to make things easier, etc. If we are both happy about working with each other, at the end of this meeting we will agree a 'contract' about how we will work together going forward. I will always try to help you find an alternative service if I feel that I am unable to help you myself for any reason.
