About me and my therapy practice

You may be reaching out for therapy because you feel anxious, lonely, angry, depressed or are feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable. There are times in our lives when we feel stuck, like nothing is changing, when we don't know what to do or we feel lost. You may feel that you can't confront those emotions alone or with the support of those around you. Therapy can open a space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings within a safe, confidential and secure environment. Moving you forward into a new way of being, that gives clarity to who you have always been.

As a Humanistic therapist, I believe that we all have the capacity for growth and change. Our work together will begin with where you are now and aim to help you find your own path through the challenges you have chosen to bring to therapy.  Therapy is a journey of self-exploration, greater self-awareness and understanding.

Having previously worked with adults, young people and families, I have experience of working with diverse groups of people from many different backgrounds. I have a particular interest in working with people who find talking about their feelings difficult and problematic.

Please do contact me, to talk through any questions you may have. I would be open to explore any blocks or feelings that at times can prevent you from talking. Therapy can support you to reclaim and trust your authentic voice and allow it to be heard.

I value the importance of finding the right therapist and therefore offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation to discuss what brought you to therapy and for us to be introduced to each other.

Practice description

Everyday life can be complex and demanding, so it’s not uncommon to experience a sense of unhappiness, uneasiness or disconnection. Our work together will create a space for you to explore the reasons that brought you therapy and highlight areas that may not be so immediately obvious.

Alongside becoming a Humanistic Counsellor, I have worked for over 28 years with young people and families, as a Youth Worker and also as a Family Coach. This has been an excellent foundation for my second career in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

This has given me experience in working with clients to address; relationship building, conflict resolution, reducing Child-to-Parent Abuse, reducing risk-taking behaviours, clarifying boundaries of what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour and reducing parental stress and anxiety.

This work is based upon a non-judgemental and open approach that engenders a sense of sustainable intervention so that the young people and families can together move forward with their lives.

My first session

Our work will start with an initial consultation where we can meet each other and discuss a unique plan that suits your need for therapy.

Together we will agree a contract to create a safe and confidential space, which can offer you a secure environment.
