About me and my therapy practice

You may be reaching out for therapy because you feel anxious, lonely, angry, depressed or are feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable. There are times in our lives when we feel stuck, like nothing is changing, when we don't know what to do or we feel lost. You may feel that you can't confront those emotions alone or with the support of those around you.

I am a BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor working from a secure & private practice in Hurstpierpoint.

I work with Adults and Young People and specialise in the areas of anger, trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, and loss. I have a particular interest in working with people who find talking about their feelings difficult and problematic.

  • Addiction
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Children

As a Humanistic Therapist, I believe that we all have the capacity for growth and change. Our work together will begin with where you are now and aim to help you find your own path through the challenges you have chosen to bring to therapy. Therapy is a journey of self-exploration, greater self-awareness and understanding.

Please do contact me, to talk through any questions you may have. I would be open to explore any blocks or feelings that at times can prevent you from talking.

Practice description

Everyday life can be complex and demanding, so it’s not uncommon to experience a sense of unhappiness, uneasiness or disconnection. Our work together will create a space for you to explore the reasons that brought you therapy and highlight areas that may not be so immediately obvious.

As well as my private practice, I have also worked for over 28 years with families and young people, as a Family Coach and Youth Worker. This has been an excellent foundation for my second career as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.

I also have experience of working with family issues which include: relationship building, conflict resolution, reducing Child-to-Parent Abuse, reducing risk-taking behaviours, reducing parental stress and anxiety.

This work is based upon a non-judgemental and open approach that engenders a sense of sustainable intervention so that the young people and families can together move forward with their lives.

Training, qualifications

• Compassionate Inquiry Certificate with Gabor Mate.

• Post Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling

• BA(Hons) - Professional Studies Learning and Development

• Dip HE - Education in Youth and Community Work

• Level 3 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring (QCF) Chartered Management Institute

• Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (QCF)

I believe that professional development is a lifelong agreement within my role as a counsellor. I just completed further training with Gabor Mate - Compassionate Enquiry, which is a yearlong course focusing on, working with clients to access deep healing and transformation.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to the BACP ethical guidelines for practice and am fully insured for all therapeutic work. I also hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

My first session

Our work will start with an initial consultation where we can meet each other and discuss a unique plan that suits your need for therapy.

Before working together, it can be helpful to have an initial conversation via phone or email to discuss any questions you may have. I value the importance of finding the right therapist and therefore offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation to discuss what brought you to therapy and for us to be introduced to each other.

Thereafter, my standard fee is £55 to £60 per session.

I also have a number of limited lower fee spaces available, to people who are on a lower income. I am very open to discuss these spaces with you.
