About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Freedom ♾️ With Christmas approaching, many of us are feeling at the mercy of a familiar demon we might call Should-ism; I should buy gifts I can’t afford, I should see relatives I find very difficult to be around, I should cook Christmas dinner for everyone, I should send Christmas cards, I should go to church, I should attend the Christmas party even though I can’t stand the people I work with and I’d rather be at home eating chocolate. . .I shouldn’t eat chocolate. . .
Familiar? It should be. We all do it and we all end up in a mess because of it. Fortunately, there is another way. It’s called Awareness. This is where we pause all the doing and the shoulding we’ve been up to in the external world, and start to come into awareness of what is happening for us inside, and want we really want to do, or want not to do.
If you desire to know what is really true for you and experience the freedom that comes with living life rooted in the sacred ground of truth, then join me for 6 sessions out in the Tunbridge Wells countryside where we will examine and question the internal messages that keep you locked away, living everyone else’s life except your own. Shoulds are lies, and when we believe these lies, we suffer. Seeing this with our own eyes is to become Self Aware and this is also known as Freedom.
Professionally, I have over 10 years experience working with adults and children and their caregivers who are living with or affected by additional needs, disabilities and life limiting Illnesses. I currently work as a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, and also within the creative arts.
I have many years experience of working with addictions, and this is an area of particular interest for me.
Practice description
If you have noticed you feel better outside and like the sound of bushcraft activities (for you this time, rather than your kids) then this is the place to be. At my Hartfield practice, I work on a private estate set within 200 acres of ANOB countryside and woodland. Here can work with fire, wood, stones and water as we get in touch with your wild aspect and lean into the natural world which provides everything we need to heal from within.
In this work, we come into relationship with the person you’ve been waiting to meet all your life; and that person is you. This is the path to Freedom.
My first session
I offer you a free 15 minute telephone appointment, during which you can tell me what has brought you here, and I’ll tell you a bit more how the process works.
I invite you to please look around and keep your options open. It is important you get the person that feels right for you, and thankfully there are many wonderful therapists out there to choose from.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Jenny. Welcome to Freedom490 Counselling. This is our space; confidential, secure, infused with warmth and compassion. Together, we can explore what has brought you to this point on your life journey. It may be that you are feeling at the mercy of a situation or behaviour that has spiralled out of control, and you are now experiencing states of unmanageable anxiety. Perhaps you have a clear idea of what is causing your suffering and wish to feel more resourced to manage your life. It might be that you are unaware of exactly what it is that has brought you here, but your body and feeling states are giving you important messages that are becoming difficult to ignore.
As we spend time together, we will get to know one another and establish a robust therapy container, forged from trust. As we build our therapeutic connection, we will become aware of ways in which you can begin to effect positive change, and develop a sense of agency and within your inner and outer worlds.
Sometimes, the picture is a little different. Perhaps we have been here before, having taken a few ‘run-ups’ to therapy in the past, and maybe we have not experienced that enduring change we were seeking. It is so that whatever is causing you difficulty in the present will very likely have deep tap roots that can be traced back to your early years. If you are willing to go deeper into our work together, we can explore your childhood memories, and look at the systemic, ancestral patterns that may be limiting you and causing suffering in ‘the now’.
Your magnificent being is blessed with everything needed to heal from within. What I offer to you is kindness; the support and guidance of one who has personal, lived experience of the pain that pushes us to the point of breaking down, and ultimately, breaking through.
Practice description
My mission in this work is to create the conditions for you to explore your inner and outer worlds. We will question the habitual patterns that block you from experiencing your essence. We will notice what arises, and how it feels. We will find the courage to be curious and daring as we explore completely new territories and possibilities. We will allow all that is, as we synthesise, moving towards the experience of wholeness.
You went through so much before you made the decision to answer the call to freedom. Now you have arrived and are ready to venture out. Please be mindful of what journeying along this path will entail. It is not always going to be smooth sailing. These seas can be rough, and we are liable to get thrown around deck a great deal. There will be trepidation and fear as we charter unknown, deep, forgotten waters. As we journey on together, we will face extremely uncomfortable, challenging and of course, painful, feelings and thoughts. And yet remember: you are never alone on this expedition, because we travel together. When it seems overwhelming, like you just cannot go on… we rest and we regroup. We get back onto dry land and warm ourselves by the fire. We remember why we are doing this, as the clouds disperse and the sun lights our way forward. We rediscover our sea legs, and we voyage onwards, together.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Jenny & I warmly welcome you to Freedom490 Counselling. Perhaps you are feeling at the mercy of a situation or behaviour that has spiralled out of control, and you are now experiencing states of unmanageable anxiety. Maybe you have taken a few ‘run-ups’ to therapy in the past, yet not experienced that personal breakthrough you have been seeking.
Freedom490 is your space; confidential, secure, infused with warmth and compassion. Here you will always be met with kindness by one who has personal, lived experience of the pain that pushes us to the point of breaking down. Now, together, we explore what is keeping you down and holding you back. We become aware of ways in which you can begin to effect positive change, and develop a sense of autonomy within your inner and outer worlds; we break through.
Professionally, I have over 10 years experience working within the fields of Adult and Children’s Additional Needs. Prior to this, I worked in financial and legal institutions in the City of London.
I have been working voluntarily with women dealing with alcohol and substance misuse issues for the past 8 years. In in this area, I find I often end up providing support to women who have fallen into addictive behaviours as a result of attempting to cope with the effects of narcissistic and domestic abuse.
Practice description
We are all unique, and the way I work with you will always be nuanced and finely tuned to your essence. I take an holistic approach to our work, which means we come into awareness of everything that is happening for you; the physical, the mental/emotional and the spiritual. In my experience, it is the body that holds all the answers. While our thoughts and emotions will often be inherited from our caregivers and family systems, “the body never lies”. Coming into relationship with our bodies, and decoding the messages it has for us is key to the work we will undertake together, and is the way to the freedom you are longing to experience.
As well as traditional talking therapy methods, I also work creatively with light, sound and colour. In this way, we are often able to bypass the traps of the thinking mind, and get right to the heart of what is causing you suffering. It can also be playful, fun and because we are active rather than passive, this aids us in the processing of trauma.
I have many years’ experience of what is now referred to as ‘walk and talk’ therapy. I am a big fan of this approach, again, because it is a practical way of assisting our being with the processing of trauma. More than this, we are communing with nature as we travel, which is a spiritually healing practice in itself.
If you have noticed you feel better outside and want to get into bushcraft activities for you this time, then this is the place to be. I work within 200 acres of ANOB countryside and woodland, where we can get in touch with your inner Wild Woman, and experience the joys of the natural work which supports our being and provides everything we need to heal.

Now, together, we will explore the fearful, intrusive thoughts that manifest in your body as stress. We will start to become aware of what happens for you when you identify with the thoughts that are causing you to experience distress. We don’t try to change anything, we just have a look at the possibilities. Any changes to be made will take care of themselves as we navigate the world of the unchallenged thoughts and beliefs that keep you stuck in a pattern of suffering. Practice description
The way I work is quite different to other therapists in that I run my practice exclusively in the great outdoors. I decided to facilitate counselling sessions in this way due to my belief that our connection to Mother Earth and her elements is key to lasting, therapeutic change. There are many studies which claim to provide evidence that moving in nature can heal our minds and bodies by alleviating the symptoms of depression, helping us to effectively process trauma, regulate our nervous system..etc. All I know is that when I combine my love of being in nature with talking therapy, miracles happen.
Obviously sometimes it gets a little wild and woolly out there, and we need to take shelter. I have a van with an awning under which we can take shelter when the elements show us that we need to take a pause and enjoy the contrast of dryness and warmth.
My first session
I offer a free, initial 20 minute telephone consultation during which time you can give me a brief outline of what you are seeking from therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to put to me any questions you may have about my practice.
I facilitate 60 minute hour long sessions in outdoor locations including RSPB Tudeley Woods, Knole, Sevenoaks, Hartfield on Ashdown Forest, Keston Ponds and Bromley, BR1.
In the Autumn/Winter months, it’s a good move to come dressed for whatever the weather may throw at us. Wellies or waterproof walking shoes are a must.
I invite you to look around and keep your options open when, and to trust your inner guidance when selecting a therapist to work with.
