Practice description

I am a self-employed counsellor and an accredited member of the BACP abiding by their ethical framework and code of conduct.

I have several years of experience running my own Private Practice.  My website is

The therapy is guided by an explicit counselling contract which sets out the principles and boundaries of our work together.  The therapeutic work may be open-ended or have a planned ending and sessions may be held on a weekly or fortnightly basis according to your preference.  I offer you confidentiality and will safeguard you throughout.

My practice is conducted online via video-linked Zoom sessions.

My first session

I offer an initial assessment which allows us to meet and get to know a little about each other.  This will give us the opportunity to discuss your goals for counselling and how I can support you in this.

The initial aim is to gradually start establishing a professional and therapeutic relationship for the ensuing therapy.

The therapy for disordered eating and the many eating disorders involves work on motivation to change and addressing the ambivalence that may normally exist.  We will consider any predisposing factors, identify the precipitating point in your past and explore the perpetuating factors that keep you presently stuck.  This involves looking at the physical and emotional drivers such as your relationship with food, self-esteem, perfectionism, rigid rules and habits, relationships and many more.  Therapy is approached via a parallel track approach; the nutritional rehabilitation plus the cognitive and emotional tracks.

Important work is done on relapse prevention and maintaining recovery.
