About me and my therapy practice

I have over 25 years experience as a therapist and supervisor. I offer one to one brief or long term therapeutic support. I am dedicated to my work and my clients, trying to help them to move forward and effect any changes which will improve their lives and situations. I am a mother and grandmother. I always seek to enlarge my knowledge and read widely. I am very empathic and believe that with the right support everyone can be enabled. I am interested in different cultures and belief systems and respectful of all.

Practice description

I have a small careful selected private practice and aim to empower my clients to resolve not only current problems but also develop their ability to manage any future issues.

I encourage clients to look at their past if it seems appropriate and is impacting on the present and use CBT to help them move forward.

My first session

In the first session I initially discuss the contract between us so that the client understands my commitment to them. I attempt to forge a good counselling alliance between us. I encourage the client to ask as many questions about my training and experience as they want. We begin to gently explore the reason they have chosen to come to counselling. At this point there is no commitment to future sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

I have been supervising since gaining my Supervision Diploma in 2004. I have worked both privately and in an organisational setting. I have worked individually and with groups. I have supervised counselling students and qualified counsellors as well as other qualified supervisors. My sessions are a full 60 or 90 minutes.

I work integratively with person Centered, existential, transactional analysis and cognitive Behavioural therapy.

Practice description

I work in private practice from my home. I divide my time between supervision and counselling in order to remain grounded.

I am selective about my work and the amount of supervisees and clients I see preferring to keep my practice small as I feel that this offers the best quality.

My first session

My first session is initially spent discussing my contract and explaining how I feel good supportive supervision should work.

I encourage the supervisee to ask as many questions about my qualifications and experience as they want.

I try to foster a mutually comfortable relationship and begin to look at the supervisees work.
