About me and my therapy practice
The counselling I offer is primarily focused on building a strong connection and working relationship with you. On this bedrock, we explore areas you're having difficulty with. I provide a warm, safe, strictly confidential and non-judgemental environment where we can talk about struggles you are facing and how to navigate them.
I have counselling experience both in the mental health charity sector and the NHS IAPTUS service, working with clients suffering from depression, anxiety, anger/emotional regulation, relationship and identity struggles. In my NHS role I offered both CBT-focused and humanistic/Gestalt counselling.
I draw from this experience and my BACP-accredited counselling training when working privately with clients.
Our work together will be dialogic, that is to say, we will talk about what you are going through. I work primarily online.
Often times, the obstacles you are facing can be linked back to experiences you've had in the past, we will explore these.
This is done in a non-judgmental manner; the aim is not to 'point the finger' at people/situations from your past, but rather understand and even develop compassion for how these have shaped you and your perspectives/behaviour i.e. who you are today.
I will gently guide you back to the present moment, often. Remaining rooted in the here-and-now, even as we delve into the past, will be part of our work.
Exercises using imagination, play and/or movement may also feature in our sessions. These will be optional, however, I will encourage you to try them. They can provide much insight and help you lean into growth areas.
In summary, our work will consist of building deep(er) self-awareness, up-skilling in present-focused presence and developing ways to navigate your circumstances and environment, alongside emotional resilience.
My first session
I offer a 30mins free first session online, where we talk about what you're looking for, get a feel for each other and how we might work together.
