About me and my therapy practice
I am a professionally qualified Integrative Counsellor and my therapeutic studies began at my local college and I went on to complete them with BSc Hons Degree at university.
I trained in Integrative Counselling meaning I draw from various modalities and theories and incorporate them where relevant in my work with you. This means that sometimes we may be able to make links between your past and present and begin to start understanding why you respond to certain life situations in ways that now longer feel autonomist for you.
I mainly work with issues of depression, anxiety and stress and help clients uncover the root of their psychological and emotional distress and start to consider and explore areas where you might wish to make changes in your life.
Depression can be quite debilitating and stop us from moving on in life as it can feel almost impossible to loosen the grip it has on us. There are days where we can wake up with what feels like the darkest cloud hanging over us and it sets us up for the dreaded ahead with nothing to feel happy or excited about. Most of the time we manage to put on a brave face and get on with life and appear to the outside world that our world is good when really inside there is completely different story to be told. This itself can feed so much into anxiety and stress as you fear the wall you have built around yourself to save you from hurt and pain will crumble and fall if something slips.
Having a space in therapy will give you the chance to explore how you are feeling and work through how you can let go of that dark cloud.
My first session
Upon your first point of contact you will be offered a free of charge 15 mins telephone consultation. From there we can agree on a mutually convenient day and time for your one to one sessions.
During the first session we can explore in more detail what brought you to therapy and what it is you hope to gain and we can take the opportunity to discuss any questions you may have.
