About me and my therapy practiceMy approach is psychodynamic and aims to bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, making you aware of patterns in your feelings and behaviour and providing insight into your current self. I aim to help people from all backgrounds and walks of life and of all sexual orientations to express their concerns and emotions without feeling judged. Every difficulty is respected and valued for the insight it provides into more profound issues.
Deciding to seek help is often a significant step, and finding the therapist that best suits your needs is part of this delicate process. From the moment you make your first enquiry I usually offer a 15 minutes phone conversation, free of charge, to discuss your needs and answer any questions you might have. At the end of the phone call or after that, we can decide together whether you would like to book an initial consultation. The initial 50-minute consultation will give us the opportunity to get to know each other and think together about your needs and concerns and what you expect to gain from the therapy. At the end of the consultation, there is no obligation to commit to therapy if one or both of us feel that my support does not feel appropriate at this stage in your life. Consultations are charged at the same rate as ongoing sessions.
My first sessionOnce we agree to proceed with therapy, we would meet once a week at a time convenient for us both. Counselling sessions for both individuals and couples last 50 minutes. You will be encouraged to start the session by talking or sharing anything that is on your mind. There is no right or wrong way of doing it. Your thoughts and feelings are what matters, and we will be able to explore together whatever is troubling you in a way that gradually enables you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
