About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist who works with couples and individuals experiencing difficulties in intimate partner relationships.

My approach is psychodynamic and aims to bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, making you aware of patterns in your feelings and behaviour and providing insight into your current self. I aim to help people from all backgrounds and walks of life and of all sexual orientations to express their concerns and emotions without feeling judged. Every difficulty is respected and valued for the insight it provides into more profound issues.

I am a visiting clinician at Tavistock Relationships in London and a guest speaker at St. Mary's University in Twickenham. At Tavistock Relationships I support people experiencing difficulties such as breakdown in trust and communication, loss of sexual desire, anger, low moods, low self-esteem, jealousy, infidelity, parental issues, ageing and illness.  As well as working as a visiting clinician in London, I see patients at The Practice in East Molesey, Surrey, where I offer in-person and online counselling sessions in English and Italian.

I hold an MA in Couple & Individual Psychodynamic  Psychotherapy from the University of East London. I trained at Tavistock Relationships which, since its foundation in 1948, has been a leading international training and research centre for couple counselling and psychotherapy. I have also specialised in Mentalisation-Based Treatment for Couples Therapy, a form of therapy for those who find that their arguments can get very stormy and heated. This specific therapy, known as MBT-CT, can help couples to understand their emotional responses better by focusing on the partner’s feelings as well as their own.

If necessary I  can offer a brief phone call free of charge. This will allow you to briefly discuss your situation and ask any questions you might have before committing to therapy.

Practice description

Deciding to seek help is often a significant step, and finding the therapist that best suits your needs is part of this delicate process. From the moment you make your first enquiry I usually offer a 15 minutes phone conversation, free of charge, to discuss your needs and answer any questions you might have. At the end of the phone call we can decide together whether you would like to book an initial consultation. The initial consultation will be an opportunity to understand your needs and concerns in more depth and what you expect to gain from the therapy. At the end of the consultation, there is no obligation to commit to therapy if one or both of us feel that my support does not feel appropriate at this stage in your life.

My first session

Once we agree to proceed with therapy, we would meet once a week at a time convenient for us both. Counselling sessions for both individuals and couples last 50 minutes. You will be encouraged to start the session by talking or sharing anything that is on your mind. There is no right or wrong way of doing it. Your thoughts and feelings are what matters, and we will be able to explore together whatever is troubling you in a way that gradually enables you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
