About me and my therapy practice
People seek counselling for all sorts of different reasons. Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed or are suffering from low self-worth. Perhaps you have been affected by painful life experiences, or maybe you are uncertain about why you feel the way you do.
Whoever you are, whatever your troubles, I offer you the space to explore them in a comfortable, accepting and empathic environment. This can enable you to gain a better understanding of yourself and the issues troubling you and to find a way forward that is best for you or to feel more settled within yourself.
I am a person-centred counsellor, who recognises that we all have within us the potential to know and do what is best for us. Therefore sessions are not about me offering advice or telling you what to do, but about giving you the time and space to explore yourself and your troubles, so that you can rediscover that potential and feel more confident and comfortable within your life.
My first session
The first session usually involves a discussion about how we will work together as well as an initial exploration of what is troubling you and what you would like from therapy. It is really important that you find a therapist and a therapeutic process which suits you and this first meeting is also a time for you to ask any questions and to get a sense of me as a therapist and my therapeutic approach.
