About me and my therapy practice
Life has many challenges: sometimes we cope, and other times we just can't find the strength. As a therapist, I provide a safe and confidential space for you to offload, increase your self-awareness and find pathways through difficult times.
The most important part of therapy is the connection between therapist and client. If you feel a connection to me, we can build a relationship founded on trust to help you move forward with a sense of hope for a brighter future.
The question I am asked the most from potential clients is, "What technique or therapeutic modality do I use?" I am trained in numerous techniques including CBT, Person-Centred and Narrative Therapy but my answer is always the same: it's not about the technique, but the connection between therapist and client. I'll work hard to build a strong, professional connection with you, laying the foundations for transformative growth and personal development.
As well as providing a safe space for you to be heard, I am a solutions-focused therapist, equipping you with a 'toolbox' of strategies you can draw upon when you are not in my therapy room. This toolbox is created by working together, being brave, vulnerable, honest and open to new ideas, thoughts and ways of being in the world. This takes courage, trust and a sometimes a sense of humour and I feel confident in providing an environment where all of this can take place.
Empathy is at the heart of therapy, but I will also challenge you to help you move forward. I always ensure I do this in a safe environment, using my experience to judge when this is necessary. I don't have all the answers, but my role is to help you find them, and work together to move forward in whatever journey you need to take.
I work with clients globally online via zoom.
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with a bachelor's degree in Counselling and Human Change, and am fully insured as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their Code of Ethics.
My first session
Please try not to worry too much about your first session. You don't need to have a plan for how it will go, or what you will say. There are no expectations for you to come prepared. You can begin wherever you like, safe in the knowledge that I am there as your guide and support. If by the end of the session you decide it's not for you, then that's fine too. I may be able to suggest other ways for you to move forward which might suit you better.
