Practice description
As a therapist, I have a special passion for working with adults who may have faced challenges in their relationship with their parents while growing up. I deeply understand the significant impact that early experiences have on our emotional well-being and how they shape our connections with others.
I believe that the bond between a parent and child is crucial, and when that bond is disrupted or strained, it can leave lasting effects. Drawing from attachment theory, which emphasises the importance of healthy emotional connections, we will work together to understand the impact of your early experiences and how they may still influence your life today.
***
When we feel stressed, overwhelmed, lost or stuck in life, speaking to someone outside our immediate friends and family circle can be really helpful.
Does any of this apply to you:
- finding it difficult to get on top of things and feeling 'I should be doing better'?
- having an underlying sense of 'something is wrong with me'?
- seeing no solution to existing problems?
- or perhaps having an idea what the solution looks like, but feeling unable to move in that direction?
- doubting yourself and lacking confidence?
feeling that significant others often don’t really understand you?
When we feel like this, we can be going through major life changes and our minds aren’t adapting fast enough.
Deflated, dissatisfied, sometimes depressed, we tell ourselves we should be doing better. Our anxiety is on the rise and we end up procrastinating or avoiding the problems.
What difference can counselling make? It can:
- help you cope with the overwhelming feelings and make sense of them
- help you regain inner stability and balance
- help you stop going in circles and get unstuck
- give you ‘permission’ to be you and take care of yourself without feeling guilty
- improve your relationships with others
- most importantly therapy can help you improve your relationship with yourself.
