About me and my therapy practice

Experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, and feeling self-criticism can make you feel stuck. Maybe you have high standards, are a perfectionist, and are ambitious in wanting to move forward, but feel stuck in the past or repeat unhelpful patterns?  You may have committed to work on yourself, but feel very alone and lost. Stress could be casting a shadow on your self-esteem, work, and relationships with loved ones and friends. Perhaps you do not wish to trouble a partner, or a friend, and yet you need support to create the positive changes you want to achieve. As a BACP therapist, I have the expertise, training and empathy to help you progress.

How do I work with you as a counsellor?

  • and possible actions to realise your goals.

Practice description

Healing from mental health issues can be more efficient when you work with a trained professional. I will listen to you with empathy, accepting you fully, and providing a safe space where you can speak without judgment. Through talking, you can gain clarity on your situation, become more aware of your choices, and feel able to achieve your goals. 

 I use different approaches. 

  • relational counselling ( looks at your relationship with yourself and others);
  •  pluralistic counselling (addresses your goals, strengths, and inner resources); 
  • person centred ( the therapist will be empathic, non-judgemental, authentic and hold you in unconditional regard);
  •  CBT strategies (exploring thought patterns and evidence for these); and
  •  creative methods ( using card tasks, energy healing, writing or story work). 
  • mindfulness strategies and visualisation techniques.

 Every client is unique and so my approach is bespoke and different with each individual.

My background.

My background is in developing people as a highly experienced teacher and also a leader (in middle management roles). Given this, I have over 25 years' experience in helping people learn and in facilitating personal growth and development.

My first session

In our first session, I will ask you what the difficulties are and what your goal is. We will agree a counselling contract. I will ask you to give an overview of life events, and if you have had counselling before. 

Clients find me warm, kind and supportive and I will give you the space you need to talk & to process your feelings.
