About me and my therapy practice

I can offer you help to deal with life's dilemmas, relief from anxiety/depression/pain/loss, support to improve relationships and effect change.

I use an integrative model which means I draw from a range of therapeutic models and philosophies, so that we can co-create and evolve a therapy that suits you. This facilitates a broad and extensive therapeutic approach to cater for the complexities of the genesis of human problems.

Expectations you can have of me are: trust and confidentiality, fairness, respect and working to high professional standards.

I also have additional specialist qualifications in working with children/young people and am DBS checked.

Practice description

I offer you an opportunity to talk through experiences, emotions, behaviours and thoughts; and to find ways of acting and thinking that are more rewarding and satisfying. I aim to support this process by listening and feeding back to you what you are saying (offering you observations, not judgements), through inviting you to talk about – and stay focused on – the issues that are key to you. Through talking about feelings and experiences – particularly ones that you may feel bad about – and through challenging negative ways of seeing yourself, you can also come to feel better about who you are.

You will have the chance to learn how to witness what you are feeling and thinking and in doing so, develop the ability to stand back from getting caught up in negative, repetitive behavioural patterns that keep you trapped in enacting unhelpful responses to unresolved triggers. I don’t believe you to be broken, you are simply a human being who is responding to the situation in the only way you know. I’ll help you cultivate curiosity around the potential that you hold. You will also become aware of alternative ways in which to view yourself and your life, which can enrich your relationships and everyday experience.

Therapy is the opportunity to practise and try out new ways of being and relating whilst knowing you are in safe hands. Your personal safety is at the heart of my work and I value individual difference, honesty, integrity, connection and relationship. I strongly believe that counselling changes lives and people can be empowered to find their own answers.
