About me and my therapy practice
With all the confusion and challenges that life can throw at us, sometimes we need a space just to hear ourselves talk out loud. To be able to say the words that spin around and around and create patterns of behavior that may not always be productive.
A confidential space where someone who is not a friend or family member or a colleague will listen. I believe it is more and more difficult to find the time and the space to reflect on the meaning in our lives. I offer a professional, confidential and non-judgmental space where together we can identify the issues that may be creating difficulties for you, explore how they may have arisen, and develop strategies to alleviate some of the anxiety and stress that they bring.
For me building a trusting therapeutic relationship is key to any therapeutic growth and for this reason I offer a reduced fee for the first appointment so that we can spend some time to assess whether we both feel that we can work together. I offer both counselling which tends to be more short term work, dealing with immediate issues and also psychotherapy, which is longer term and looks more deeply into historic factors which may have impacted on your life.
Therapy may not be good for everyone. In my experience its benefits are best revealed to those who have made the decision themselves that they wish to make changes in their life and are willing to engage in collaboration with the therapist to work through their challenges. It is not always an easy process, but I believe that we all have inner resources which are sometimes difficult to engage with on our own. Therapy gives a platform to explore these resources and can help to empower us by reflecting on challenging issues from a different perspective.
I also offer therapy for students at a concessionary rate.
