I am also a trainee Supervisor open to working with trainee counsellors and therapists at low cost until I have finished my Supervision diploma.

I offer integrative, transpersonal and relational supervision both online and face to face at my practice in Frenchay, Bristol. I utilise the Hawkins and Shohet 7-eyed model which offers a multi-dimensional aspect to supervision, encouraging you as the supervisee to take a step back and develop greater insight to your client work and all the unconscious parts which play an impact. I work on adapting my role as a supervisor to enhance your individual supervisee skills, modality and needs.

I highlight the importance of bringing somatic awareness and unconscious thought to supervision, which enables you as a supervisee to identify and acknowledge your own responses in relation to your clients, whilst also naming mine that emerge if relevant.

Working from a transpersonal context means I hold the understanding that all beings are interconnected and seek a sense of deep purpose that brings meaning, vitality, and fulfilment. The 'golden thread' of intersectionality, in particular, race and heritage, sexualities and genders is an integral part of my work. I also acknowledge the systemic dynamic you work within and are accountable to.

Most importantly, it's essential you find the supervisor who "fits" you; similar to the client and counsellor relationship. I work at relational depth and draw on my humanistic skills so that we can work with mutual respect, for each others' humanity, challenges and blind spots. I draw on compassion as a way to enlighten and reflect on mutual learning and growth to enhance your experiential and professional development.

About me and my therapy practice

Becoming your true self and learning how to let go of the things that shaped or were done to you, and your patterns of relating which no longer serve you, can be challenging, messy and painful.

But letting go of redundant behaviours and thoughts can also be rewarding and offers opportunity for growth. It is empowering and transformative and all that is required is for you to want this change to happen, and be fully engaged in the collaborative counselling process with myself.

By looking here for a counsellor, you are taking responsibility for your life moving forward and bravely enabling change. It's ok to ask for professional help. Admitting that you can't cope, need things to change or have a problem is a sign of strength and determination. The next step is to find a counsellor who resonates for you.

Perhaps you are looking for a meaning in the world and a point to your existence or how to connect in relationships with others. Perhaps life transitions have shaken up everything you knew; perhaps your past holds you prisoner in your future.

Our counselling relationship will provide a safe space for you to tackle your problems more effectively, build self awareness, challenge your perspective, and learn to cope or allow you to find meaning through acceptance. I will also ensure you are seen, heard and feel accompanied when you can feel most alone; when it seems like no one else understands, you feel overloaded or isolated.

My approach to our counselling relationship is to be present, genuine and supportive of you and the personal growth journey you are about to undertake. We will work together to enable you to feel more equipped to deal with life’s challenges so that you can live in a more fulfilling way.

I believe that it will be in the quality of our honest and trusting therapeutic relationship, which will offer you support and chance for contemplation that you are able to become the person you hope to become.

Practice description

I am a qualified, humanistic counsellor offering a genuine and open approach to supporting your discovery of your inner resources and resilience. It is the quality of our therapeutic relationship which will create the supportive space to enable you to move towards what you need and want in your life.

My training is Integrative which means that I am familiar with a wide range of psychotherapeutic theories so I am able to draw on different approaches to counselling, as and when they are most beneficial to you at different stages in your therapy and in our relationship.

My person-centred and Humanistic counselling training, means I genuinely believe you hold the answers to what you need to find your potential in your life and grow towards what you need. Therefore I will meet you genuinely and openly as human being to human being in a real, approachable and supportive relationship.

My primary focus is you and your unique strength and resilience; in my experience I know that some part of you will know how to use the space best for your own growth and healing. I believe you are the professional and expert of your life and issues and not the other way around.

I have been a counsellor with several organisations in Bristol including the Swan Project, the charity Mind and the counselling services at Bristol University as well as having my own private practice.

My strengths are particularly working with compassion focused therapy (CFT), gestalt, transactional analysis, mindfulness and solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), but these are far from exclusive approaches and the most important aspect for me is the quality of our counselling relationship.

I am also a member of BACP and abide by its Code of Ethics (2016). I attend regular supervision with an accredited and qualified supervisor to ensure my counselling work is both effective and ethical. I also undergo ongoing training and development in various areas in order to hone my counselling skills.

My first session

Our first paid for, introductory session is for us both to explore how we feel working together; for me to give you a chance to see how I work and respond to you, and to answer any questions you may have. I will also be gauging my suitability to your requirements or whether you may require more specific or different kinds of therapeutic support.

You also may want to feel around if you feel comfortable, safe and can build a safe counselling relationship with me. We will both make the decision as to whether to work together. The most important thing is you finding a counsellor who "fits" your needs and you feel instinctively you might be able to work with.

The next two/ three sessions will involve an informal assessment, with me finding out why you have decided to come to counselling; what your hopes, expectations are for our counselling sessions together.

Additionally we will go through our working contract together, which asks for at least 6 sessions commitment and to attend at the same day and time and what to do about missing sessions and the importance of being punctual.

Often in the first few sessions we start to observe the presence of any critical voice, set intentions of the hopes you would like for yourself from therapy, gauge your support system, ascertain any repeating detrimental relational patterns or anything which might feel relevant.

You might also be building your trust in me, observing how I work and the importance of our professional connection and the safe space we co-create together. So if you feel you'd like to bring clarity to your situation, change or accept your feelings about yourself and your life, or would just like to cope and feel more content, please don't hesitate to contact me.
