About me and my therapy practice
Are you finding life harder than usual? Struggling to find somewhere just to be yourself – or feeling unsure who you are anymore? As a qualified counsellor I can provide a safe space to listen to what you really want to say, without judging you for what you do, say, think or feel.
I am a qualified counsellor working in Argyll, Glasgow and online. I have an MSc from Keele University in counselling and psychotherapy with a distinction in research and practice and a PhD in psychotherapy from Chester University.
My professional experience as a counsellor includes work for an adult hospice and for a youth support charity. Previous roles involved working in the law, NHS and special needs.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and its Coaching Division and I work to the BACP ethical framework. I also have an enhanced DBS check, safeguarding training to level 3 and professional insurance for your protection and to assure you that I work safely.
Working with a “person-centred” approach, I accept you, your thoughts, feelings and actions, as you are, without judging you. While I have professional training and life experience, I also take the view that you are the expert on yourself. I seek to bring a warmth and gentleness to my approach, which can help us to face deep and difficult issues together.
Among the issues/people I work with are:
Anxiety and stress
Bereavement, grief, caring, terminal illness and other types of loss
Bullying and harassment
Low mood and feelings of depression
LGBT+ clients and issues of gender, sexuality and identity
Self-esteem and self-confidence
Young clients [ aged 14+]
I offer solution-focussed coaching on work and life goals, integrating a range of approaches and my 25 years' experience operating at board level in the law, NHS, education and the voluntary sector.

About me and my therapy practice
Person-centred approach to working with supervisees. Integration of a range of well-established approaches to supervision in counselling and the helping professions: 7-eyed model of focus (Hawkins & Shohet), 3 tasks of supervision (Inskipp & Proctor), 6 processes (Bennett-Levy & Thwaites) and creative supervision (Lahad).
Practice description
Working from my person-centred approach to therapeutic work, I seek to offer a warm, emotionally safe, mutually respectful professional relationship in which supervisees can explore fully all aspects of their practice and the impact of their work on self.
In addition to standard models of supervision I include the use of creativity, which can help to unlock "stuck" situations.
I normally work online, but can offer face-to-face exceptionally (eg to facilitate regulatory and educational requirements for student supervisees). To offset the additional overheads, face to face work is charged at £75.00/ hour.
My first session
I offer an initial free 30 minute introductory session for assessment purposes.
