About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Victoria Williams. I am a fully qualified Integrative and inclusive Counsellor and Psychotherapist working online. Registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the Gendered Intelligence network of inclusive Counsellors and Therapists.
I know how hard it can be to reach out to take the first step when you need support. We are all individual, unique, and diverse therefore the reasons for seeking therapy vary significantly.
I believe that everyone has the ability to reach their full potential and lead a fulfilling life in a way that is right for them. Counselling and Psychotherapy are effective in allowing you to make positive changes to your life, so you are able to deal with any overwhelming issues that are causing you emotional pain, unhappiness, or stress.
Perhaps you're feeling trapped or blocked by the past, confused knowing there must be more to life, but feeling stuck in survival mode with old patterns that keep resurfacing. Maybe you are recently grieving from a bereavement or a loss of some kind, or simply can’t make sense of a general flatness and are in the depths of despair with feelings of stress, depression and anxiety.
You know changes need to be made and seek a safe, supportive space to work through your processes. I provide a non-judgemental, inclusive, affirmative and confidential space to explore these difficult thoughts and feelings to gain greater understanding.
Practice description
I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I use a range of approaches depending on what is most helpful to each client. I believe in counselling and psychotherapy as a collaborative process. We can explore difficult issues and gain more insight into understanding you and your problems whilst finding solutions that are right for you. We can work through historical or recent trauma's to find different perspectives, more clarity, greater balance, and connection to yourself and others so you can lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
My approach combines different techniques associated with Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and The Rewind Technique for trauma and PTS/PTSD) to support each client in the best way for them.
I have experience working with a wide range of issues including low self-esteem and confidence, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma and abuse.
I believe that counselling should be completely non-discriminatory and as part of this belief I work with a LGBTQ+ affirmative approach. I have experience working with gender, sex and relationship diversity, trans and questioning people and their families.
I am also sensitive to issues surrounding BAME communities, race, ethnicity and culture as well as individuals’ religious beliefs.
I adhere to the BACP’s ethical framework for good practice, attend regular professional supervision and ensure I take part in continuing professional development training. I also have a clear Enhanced DBS Certificate.
I offer both short term (solution focused brief therapy) and longer-term individual counselling and psychotherapy sessions for student counsellors. I am also available to work with businesses for EAP provision.
I hope you find all the information you need, please contact me if you have any queries or would like to book an appointment.
My first session
I can offer you a free telephone or online session of 15 minutes so that we can discuss what has brought you to counselling. I will explain how I work and what you can expect from counselling. This is also a chance for you to ask any questions you have of me.
After our assessment, you will hopefully have a sense of who I am as your therapist and if we are good ‘fit’ together.
I will not pressure you to commit to further sessions, and you can feel free to leave the session to think about if you would like to continue our work together.
I can offer concessionary rates if availability allows.
