About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Anna, I qualified as a counsellor in 2011. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP (Accred). Accreditation with the BACP is a professional recognition of the quality and experience of my practice. I am also a member of the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT).
I have a part time private practice based in a home office in the village of Cuckfield, West Sussex where I see young people, individual adults and couples. I also offer remote counselling regardless of your geographical location in the UK. I usually work with clients weekly.
I know from the years of experience of counselling that growth and change is possible. My work as a counsellor is incredibly important and meaningful to me and I feel privileged in the work I do.
My approach is positive, I encourage you to address the emotional or relational issues you face and give you the skills necessary to overcome them through action. My aim is to create a feeling of growth and purpose, promote healthy and fulfilling relationships and help you develop a positive relationship with yourself.
We will work together to think of ways to help you move forwards at the pace and level of challenge that feels right for you. I provide regular opportunities to review the work with you, to ensure that the counselling feels useful to you.
Some problems require only a few sessions, and I always try to work as effectively and as efficiently as possible. However, sometimes problems can feel quite big or complicated and is having a significant impact on your life. If this is the case more sessions, or longer term work may be what you prefer or need.
Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, I will work with you to identify and address the problems.
I mainly draw on Gestalt (which is a highly positive and integrative humanistic form of therapy), Systemic and attachment theories in my work, as well as interests in other modalities such as psychodynamic and existential theories.
My first session
I offer an initial free 20 minute telephone call. This will be an opportunity for us to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and for you to get a sense of me and how I work. I can also ensure that the problem you are seeking counselling for is something I can safely and competently work with and you can ask me any practical questions. If in agreeance, we will then arrange an appointment for the initial consultation.
Sessions for Individuals, Young People and the initial consultation are £55 (50 minutes)
Sessions for Couples and the initial consultation are £80 (60 minutes)
Session fee for individual sessions as part of couple work £60 (60 minutes)
I may be able to offer concessions for counselling students or those on reduced income. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this possibility.
I aim to respond to emails and messages as soon as possible.
