About me and my therapy practice
Reaching out for help and support can be a difficult first step to take. You may feel overwhelmed and need help knowing where to turn. At such a time it is important that you find the person that is right for you. I provide a safe, supportive, open and respectful space for you to talk confidentially and to explore what is troubling you.
I specialise in:
• Relationships and marriage counselling
• Anxiety and depression
I am a member of the British Psychological Society, an Approved Counsellor of The Blackford Centre, and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP) which mean I work within an ethical framework.
I see clients face to face and also offer phone and online video sessions.
A free no-obligation initial consultation gives you the security of making contact and finding out if this is the help and support you need without having to feel committed, and without fear of judgement or criticism.
I offer counselling, CBT and coaching as well as a range of therapies. I will listen to you with skill and empathy and you will be able to feel fully heard and understood.
I am a professionally qualified practitioner with experience working with children, teens, parents, families and relationships, offering counselling and therapy. I can work with you, your children or your family, to help understand the issues that you are facing and to find a way to work through them, communicating effectively together.
I work with evidence based approaches with a focus on outcomes. I have experience with talking therapies, mindfulness and CBT, as well as play and art therapies for children.
My Integrative approach means I can tailor the way I work to suit you personally, to help you find your inner strengths and develop a way forward.
I am well qualified and have an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Level 3 Diploma in Child Counselling, and a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling.
I have studied and completed courses in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and Person Centred Counselling. I have studied with The Place 2 Be, a children’s mental health charity, and have experience with mindfulness and relaxation techniques.
I can offer you:
- One to one sessions
- Online video counselling
- Telephone counselling
Working with children using play and art therapies, as well as a range of targeted activities, I have helped children overcome anger management issues, self-esteem problems, as well as dealing with phobias and self-harm. I have experience working in schools and with SEND children.
I have also undertaken specific training in depression and anxiety as well as marriage and couples counselling. I have experience counselling and coaching where people are feeling worried, stressed or are unsure how to move forwards.
I am fully trained in child safeguarding and I have Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service clearance to work with children, so you can be secure in the knowledge that you are in safe hands.
When working with children and teens the relationship with the counsellor is key. I begin the therapeutic relationship by developing a bond of trust and security so your child can feel safe and relaxed in the space and fully able to open up.
I am experienced in doing this and will ensure that this is a positive experience for your child.
My first session
I have trained in a broad range of counselling methodologies and can utilise the techniques and approaches that are best suited to you to help you bring about the change you are seeking.
You can start with a free no-obligation 20 minute consultation so you can discuss your issues and find out how I can help, as well as finding out if you feel I am the right person for you.
Getting the right match in counselling is ever so important, and particularly so when working with children and families. If you feel that you are struggling or need help, do not feel that you are alone. Reaching out to make contact is a great first step and the start of bringing about positive change.
Should you wish to proceed, I can work with you or your family on a short or long term basis, reviewing progress to make sure we keep on track to achieve your goals, and to take on board any additional issues that may become apparent and refocus as necessary.
I have a comfortable and purpose designed practice room that provides a professional and private environment. This supports individual or family therapies. It has also been tailored to the needs of children, with art and play therapy facilities integral to the space.
My counselling practice is well situated between Dorking and Horsham and has parking outside.
In addition, I am increasingly working online and via telephone sessions. I can help and guide you through setting up tech to enable you to access counselling via video calls, which is now an increasingly preferred method of counselling for many.
I have a limited number of reduced fee places that I can offer.
