About me and my therapy practice
My Qualifications and Experience I am a Therapist trained in Transactional Analysis, with a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Prior to being a therapist, I have had over 18 years working in various supporting roles – with adults, students, young people and families, plus 5 years as a social worker in mental health. I enjoyed working in the area of mental health. However, I wanted to be able to work in a more psychological, relational and creative way than a statutory mental health setting allowed. This led me to retrain in psychotherapy and I have certainly found my passion in this line of work.
I am active in learning and developing my skills and knowledge as a therapist. I am also excited to be developing my career and expertise by continuing clinical psychotherapy training to become a qualified psychotherapist.
About me I am married with two school aged children. Parenting keeps me on my toes! I'm passionate about parenting and this interest overlaps with my therapy practice. Childhood experiences are unique and can be wonderfully precious as well as painful and traumatic. It is a privilege as a therapist to be trusted and work with these experiences.
I enjoy being outside in nature, whether its walking in my local area or spending the afternoon at the beach. Being in nature has many psychotherapeutic benefits which is one of the reasons I love it!
I have my own, well-travelled, therapy journey. I know how it feels to engage in this process. The initial nerves, building therapeutic relationship and the many ‘lightbulb’ moments. The process has been transformational for me.
How I work If you decide to work with me you will experience an empathic and warm approach that is open, creative, curious and non-judgemental. I provide a safe space for you to be listened to, and for us to explore together whatever you want to bring.
