About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Carolyn. I am an experienced counsellor having practised for 14 years. 12 of these have been working in the NHS as a Practice Counsellor. As a result of this I am equipped to work with a wide range of presenting issues. My initial training was with Relate so I am also a qualified Relationship and Couple counsellor. In both roles I am experienced in working with individuals and couples over the age of 18.
I now offer private sessions in my consulting room at Queens Road Health Centre and another location near the Metro Centre. I offer daytime and evening sessions which are usually at the same time each week but can be fortnightly. I am aware that coming for therapy can be quite daunting but I offer a friendly, professional and non-judgemental space which is private and confidential following the guidelines of my governing body, the BACP.
It can be very helpful to bring whatever is troubling you, either from the past or present, to the safety of a counselling relationship. Perhaps you have been hurt or have lost someone and are finding it hard to cope? Perhaps something traumatic has happened to you or you are trying to come to terms with change in your life. Perhaps your relationship is in trouble? There are so many reasons why people come to counselling. Together we can work to make sense of what is causing your distress and help you to find a way forward. Many people find they are able to make positive changes in their lives and along with this their self-esteem and confidence grows in the process.
The length of therapy depends on what you bring to the sessions and what you want to work on at any particular time. I aim to tailor the work to your particular needs and we can work this out together and agree a contract in the initial session.
If you would like to book an initial appointment, or if you would like any further information please call.
