About me and my therapy practice
How I can help
Are you feeling anxious and depressed in this COVID pandemic? Maybe you are struggling to come to terms with losing someone, feeling sad, having panic attacks, or missing your normal life. I'm an experienced counsellor, currently working online.
Sometimes everyone you know can seem too busy, too close, or too far away. It is hard to ask a complete stranger for help, but although it takes courage to take the first step, sharing your difficulties with someone completely outside your life can bring relief and help you find new ways of coping so that you feel more at peace and comfortable in your own skin.
My qualifications and experience
- More than ten years experience,
- Qualified to work with adults and young people 14+ including enhanced DBS
- Experienced in working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, as well as low self esteem, confidence, and grief or loss of any kind.
- Particular interest in family issues, migration, bereavement and other significant changes or milestones in life.
- I also speak French and German and have worked abroad and enjoy working with clients from different cultural backgrounds.
- I am also experienced in working with NHS staff and carers and issues around working in a health setting.
Sessions are tailored to your needs..
The way I work is underpinned by person centred theory, so the session is tailored to your needs, offering a non-judgemental, empathic space for you to share your distress alongside someone who can help make sense of these feelings and help you access your own resilience and coping strategies. I discuss and integrate other approaches such as solution focussed therapy, CBT or creative techniques where appropriate. For family issues, I am also trained to think systemically with you about your family dynamics, history and relationships.
BUPA recognised and work with EAPs
I am a qualified BACP Accredited Counsellor which means I have been assessed as working ethically and safely and have several years counselling experience. I combine my private practice with work in a secondary school and college.
Counselling online or by telephone
During COVID 19 lockdown I have been continuing to work with clients online using Zoom, FaceTime and by telephone according to their preference as I have experience and training in working this way.
As in Face to Face counselling, we would arrange a regular mutually convenient time and agree to call or go online at that time. I ensure that the session is private and confidential at my end.
If the online technology isn't working very well, we can revert to working by telephone which for some clients provides a bit more privacy and focus, as they can also leave the house to make the call while walking or sitting in the car.
A quiet private garden room..
When face to face sessions are permitted my counselling room is a quiet garden room within walking distance of the centre of Guildford with free parking available and easily accessed by the surrounding areas such as Woking, Godalming and Farnham via the A3, A31, and A3100 and within walking distance of the train and bus stations.

My first session
The first session is a chance to experience how I work and see whether this is likely to meet your needs. There is no obligation to continue.
Whether face to face or online, we would agree a mutually convenient time to contact each other. You might like to consider whether you would prefer to work with me on the phone, or online using FaceTime or Zoom or to wait until face to face sessions are available again. Whatever you choose it is important to feel you have a confidential space, and you feel comfortable. Telephone can give someone the chance to talk privately either in the car or while outside on a walk.
Payment can be made online in advance and block bookings can be made if more convenient.
