Practice description

How I can help

Sometimes we can feel very stuck, either in our relationships or with particular emotional problems or painful life events and find it hard to know how to move through these difficult times.

My aim when working with clients is to offer a confidential, safe and supportive space where together we can begin to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and help you to understand yourself better.

Feeling heard, deeply understood and accepted can help you to explore your feelings more fully and openly and enable you to think about yourself in ways that you have not been able to consider before as well as develop skills for coping with emotional difficulties.

As a result, it is possible for you to feel like you have greater clarity, more choices and can change old ways of being that may have led to you feeling anxious, down or depressed. In turn this can lead to more satisfying relationships and ways of living.

I can help you:

Feel supported and less alone

understand unhelpful patterns in your relationships,

understand issues from the past

Work through stuck or recurring feelings,

Gain clarity and more control in your life,

build self-esteem,

develop coping strategies to manage symptoms of low mood and anxiety.

Create healing and greater resilience.

My first session

You can contact me by email or phone to arrange an initial appointment. This may be face to face or Online via Zoom. Sessions are 50 minutes long and generally take place at the same time each week.  The initial appointment is an opportunity for me to find out about your difficulties and how I might help you. It also gives you the opportunity to see if you feel comfortable working with me. We can discuss the best way forward, for example whether it might be helpful to find a focus for the work or whether the work will be more open ended.

I work with people face to face and also online. At our initial appointment we would discuss the number of sessions that we might meet. We can review this on a regular basis, according to your needs.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervisor Helen Bell OCN Certificate in Counselling Supervision

I am an experienced Relational Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a qualified Clinical Supervisor.

I have more than 10 years experience working in a variety of roles; in the NHS -  working in Primary Care and IAPT, as a parent counsellor in a schools and children's centre setting, as well as private practice offering time limited and open ended counselling. I work with clients with a broad range of presentations, and place a strong emphasis on the importance of the therapeutic relationship in my way of working.

I aim to provide therapists with a reflective and containing space to bring all aspects of their clinical practice in order to work as effectively, safely and ethically as possible with clients.

I envisage my supervisory role as holding a space in which you, the therapist, can feel supported, develop and ultimately flourish as a practitioner. I aim to enable you to be reflective and curious about your practice and the impact of your work on you and your clients. As with my client work I believe it is the relationship which enables this to happen.

I offer supervision to therapists working with adults. I work to the BACP Ethical Framework.

Please contact me via email to arrange an initial phone conversation about your supervisory needs and how I could support your work. I offer a FREE initial session to see if we both feel we could work together,

At this initial meeting we can discuss and agree a mutual working agreement to help create a safe and trusting learning environment which reflects your individual needs.

My spaces currently are on a Monday afternoon or a Thursday morning.

My fees are £50 per hour supervision (£75 for an hour and a half) I am able to meet face to face from my therapy rooms in Leeds city centre or online via Zoom.
