About me and my therapy practice
Throughout my life, I have been driven to help and support people to be the best version of themselves, and to be able to express themselves fully in all aspects of their lives. I am also a Samaritan volunteer I see how resilient we humans can be (even in the depth of a crisis) if we are offered support, empathy and kindness in a confidential non-judgemental space.
Experience has shown me that counselling is a process that can take time, needing patience and consistency and that taking the first steps towards it can seem daunting.
Knowing where to start or how to tackle challenges can seem overwhelming, intimidating, and frustrating but I am here to help you through this process. Please contact me if you have any questions at matt@qscounselling.co.uk
Counselling is exciting, as well as maybe causing some anxiety, it provokes feelings as you start to make changes but by working together with me I can help you to grow and change in a positive direction.
Practice description
I offer a therapeutic space that is safe and non-judgemental and I look forward to helping you get to understand yourself a bit better and exploring resolutions to your problems and challenges.
I am a BACP registered counsellor, trained as an integrative counsellor, specialising in the person-centred model, meaning I can use different therapeutic models to help you towards healing and self-discovery, but always recognise you as the “expert on yourself”. I will properly listen to your concerns, feelings and thoughts and be by your side for this journey.
In using this approach we can work together and find a way to resolve the issues and challenges that brought you to counselling.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute initial assessment session, usually online but can be face-to-face, during which I will look to understand what brings you to seek out therapy now, what is currently happening in your life and how we can work together. To make this a productive meeting I send out a client questionnaire beforehand to be filled in and returned prior to the session.
If we are both happy to work with each other, the next steps would be to arrange a suitable date and time for us to have our first full session. Before this session I will send you a Counselling Contract form, along with my Terms and Conditions. This is to make sure everything is kept transparent.
** I offer a 10% discount if six sessions are booked and paid for in advance ** contact me at matt@qscounselling.co.uk
