About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly experienced therapist taking referrals from individuals, private health insurers, employment assistance programmes, rehabilitation referral agencies and medico-legal services. I have worked with government organisations and emergency services and have previously worked on several high profile incidents.

As an integrative CBT psychotherapist, when we work together, I will draw on a range of approaches to help you achieve your goals. No two clients are the same, and no two issues are the same so by using an integrative approach, I can ensure that the therapeutic pathway we follow is tailored to your specific experiences, needs and goals.

I work with clients using a variety of techniques such as CBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy and Emotional Regulation in a Trauma Informed way.

All work is done remotely online or by telephone.

I run a small, yet busy private practice and I pride myself in having a smaller case load which allows me to work on a more personal level, and provide my clients with a quality service. This affords me the space to be able to also offer small groups, workshops and retreats.

Hopefully I hit the sweet spot between balancing working within the medical model with a client centred holistic approach. This is based on my belief that you are more than your mental health issue. Mental health is not a static state of being but an outward expression of how we feel inside. The body and mind have the ability to heal themselves in the right environment. Our minds and bodies will always strive to regain natural balance. An holistic approach to mental health is about helping or minds and bodies re establish a sense of balance and learn to self regulate. No two people are the same, even if they have the same mental health condition.

Practice description

Confidentiality is of upmost importance. Your therapy and personal information will be kept securely. Information but not full names will be shared with my supervisor who is also BABCP accredited and who regularly reviews my practice. Confidentiality will be broken if I have concerns that you or anyone else is at risk. If this occurs, it will be discussed in the session and recommendations will be discussed and documented in your notes. I may contact your GP or emergency contact for this purpose.

As a fully accredited member of the BABCP, I adhere to their ethical framework and guidelines to ensure that you receive a professional and quality service.

Sessions last for 50 minutes and are either weekly of fortnightly.

Areas I can help with include:

Anxiety

Complex Trauma

Grief/Loss/Bereavement

Health Anxiety

Low Mood/Depression

OCD

Panic

Phobias

PTSD

Social Anxiety

I use a variety of techniques such as CBT, EMDR, Schema therapy and Emotional Regulation in a Trauma Informed way.

I work short term - usually up to a maximum of 24 sessions and although there are no guarantees, most of my clients have reduced their initial outcome measures (symptoms causing them distress) to mild or sub clinical levels by the end of our therapy.

CBT is not just a talking therapy but a doing therapy. It is expected that you will be motivated and make the time to do the work both in and out of the session. There will be a regular check in to see that you are using the tools and techniques you have been provided with.

All private referrals are paid to me directly. For personal health insurance, Employee Assistance Programmes, Rehabilitation Referral Agencies and Medico-Legal Services I invoice the provider directly. All you need to do is give me your membership number, your authorisation code and pay any excess payment directly to me at your assessment . From there on I'll take care of the rest. Simple!

My first session

In the first session I will carry out a full and thorough assessment. We will get to know each other and I will set you up with a case record, which consists of me collecting some personal details and caring out a full client case history which I will keep securely and in accordance with GDPR guidelines.

I will provide you the space to talk about what brings you to therapy, and we will explore this in more detail together, such as when the problem started, what keeps it going, what your triggers are, what keeps you resilient .

We will set some goals to keep us on track, and will allow us to measure your progress at intervals. We will finally complete some clinical questionnaires which will give us a good base level to compare with in future reviews, allowing me to measure the efficacy of your treatment.

After your initial assessment, will work on a formulation of your issues with you, and we will collaboratively agree a treatment plan, which will be made uniquely for you.
