About me and my therapy practice
During my time in the NHS, I worked with a very wide and diverse range of people of all ages, from all backgrounds and walks of life, with a huge range of difficulties and issues.
On my website (www.talkingcuretherapy.com), you can read more about me, my background and the way I work, as well as more information about what therapy is, and how the process works in the FAQ and articles section (www.talkingcuretherapy.com/faqs).
Therapy is more than simply sitting and talking about your problems once a week - what may appear like ‘just talking’ is much more active and reflective. Psychotherapists are specialist mental health professionals who are trained to listen to a person’s problems in order to try and get to the origin of them. They help find ways of understanding, reflecting and reframing what has happened to help cope and feel better.
I try to create an environment that is warm and open. Feeling relaxed and able to talk without fear of criticism or judgement is essential in therapy. I understand that talking to a therapist can feel strange, intimidating or even frightening to some. I draw on a selection of therapy models that best suit the needs of each person I work with as an individual. This allows for different ways of working at different times, depending on what is happening in someone’s life, or how they may be feeling at that particular time.
I offer introductory sessions to better understand what help and support you may need, and for you to get a better understanding of how I work, with no obligation to continue. I practice in North London (N4).
Fees vary depending on the day, time and location, from £65 to £80. An initial, introductory session is £25 with no obligation to continue.
An initial session is for you to tell me a bit about yourself, for you to ask any questions you might have, and for us to see if you would want to work together. If you would like more information about what to expect, there is an FAQ at: www.talkingcuretherapy.com/faqs
