About me and my therapy practice
I have personally experienced what a difference counselling can make by encouraging my clients to explore their emotions, their uncomfortable thoughts and their feelings in a safe and calm environment. People often feel they are suffering alone and I know exactly how that feels too. I am able to provide support for issues which are particularly difficult to talk about such as shame, guilt, stigma, rejection, taboo or discrimination. My aim is to facilitate my clients progress towards feeling empowered, enabling them to make their own decisions and to regain hopefulness. I take pride in being able to support clients regardless of their culture, race, gender, age, sexual identity, views or abilities.
My approach is “Integrative” which is a combination of “Person-centred” and “Psychodynamic”. Taking a warm, sincere and non-judgemental stance, I use the "Person-centred" approach to help my clients connect with how they are feeling, and the “Psychodynamic” approach to understand their history in order to identify the root cause of their concerns. I treat each client with respect and as a unique individual who has the potential to overcome any obstacle.
I have a Therapeutic Counselling Diploma from the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB), and a National Counselling Society’s Advanced Training Certificate in Bereavement Support. I have practiced in London and Brighton.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Profession. I take the confidentiality of my clients’ data very seriously and comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). My clients’ data is encrypted and is stored digitally and securely. I am also insured.
I grew up in Japan and settled in the UK over 20 years ago.
