About me and my therapy practice

I believe that in a safe environment all kinds of insight and growth are possible. I aim to facilitate a reflective space where you feel able to explore current circumstances or past experiences. When we feel heard we gain new perspectives on our thinking, feeling and behaviour in the past or currently. I work in a flexible and integrative way, drawing on humanistic, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic approaches. I cultivate the core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard, to facilitate change and promote well being. I am passionate about understanding each person’s sense of identity and belonging, while appreciating their level of self esteem and individual cultural perspectives. I believe when we increase self awareness, we can reduce stress, access unused potential, self acceptance or address our anger. I work with clients experiencing abuse, addiction, anxiety, bereavement, depression, eating issues, relationship issues, self harm, sexuality issues or stress. My counselling experience includes: Over 5 years in NHS Primary Care. Over 10 years in Higher Education. Over 15 years in the voluntary sector, including bereavement, alcohol and mental health counselling agencies.
