About Courage to Change Counselling

Are you feeling anxious, sad, or overwhelmed and in need of support? then maybe Counselling (also known as Talking Therapy) can help.

Courage to Change Counselling offers professional and confidential support for you to talk through any difficult thoughts and emotions that are causing you to feel confused, anxious, low or depressed.

Sometimes we all need someone to listen in a way that is caring, understanding and non-judgemental. As your Counsellor, you can talk to me and I will listen to how you feel in a way that doesn't judge you but understands your struggles. This may just be what you need right now, taking care of yourself matters.

Often clients looking for counselling for the first time ask;

How can talking to someone I do not know help me? because often we feel alone with our difficulties however when we share how we feel and that is heard and understood, it feels good and we begin to understand ourselves better. Feeling safe to share those thoughts and feelings, (that we all can have but do not always freely talk about it), is therapeutic.

Talking to a Counsellor about your feelings can help you begin to understand the situation you are struggling with and why you feel the way you do. This helps you to find out what is important to you, in your life - this can open up the possibility of healing painful emotions.

Counselling can be long or short term depending on what you need. I can help you to;

  • explore your present situation and this may help you feel more positive to change the things, that you feel need to change.
  • find a way through your difficulties, to get more out of life and enjoy better relationships, it might just change your life!

Practice description

Whether you are thinking of counselling for the first time or have already had counselling in the past, it can still feel daunting to reach out and ask for help. I understand this and how difficult choosing a Counsellor can be, it takes courage.

Committing to counselling is a big step and by making that first contact you have already begun to overcome some of your fears and are getting ready to start your counselling journey to help you, help yourself and find that Courage to Change.

Can I arrange a counselling session for a friend or relative?

If you're trying to help someone be brave enough to take that first step towards counselling or remove one of the hurdles that will prevent them getting help - you can contact me to see if I'm able to help and if I have sessions available. The person you have a concern about though will need to follow this up and make contact to confirm they would like a counselling session. They can message me by email/text or phone.

My first session

If you feel ready to talk about what is bothering you and have decided you are ready to start counselling then, please message me and tell me a little bit more about yourself and your situation and what are you struggling with at the moment.

Initially, before we 'meet' for the first appointment it is good to chat, by telephone first to see if you feel counselling would be helpful. I will respond to your enquiry as soon as I can to arrange a free, initial telephone consultation.

Initial telephone enquiry and consultation is free of charge. The consultation is useful for assessment and gives you the chance to decide if therapy is for you or not. It also allows you an opportunity to ask any questions and arrange our first appointment together.

Counselling appointment per session is £55. Weekly sessions are normally booked initially to ensure you get the most benefit from therapy however this is flexible based on your personal circumstances. If for financial or other reasons you cannot book weekly appointments, then fortnightly or more flexible sessions are also a possibility.

A concession rate of £50 for students/trainee counsellors is available. I have a limited amount of reduced fees for Counselling, based on making therapy accessible and affordable to those on a restricted or low income.

You can get in touch using the message tab here. I normally reply to enquiries within 24hrs, though there may be a delay if it is a weekend or bank holiday. If you have not received an email response from Courage to Change Counselling in your normal inbox, please check your Spam folder or junk email section, or try resending.
