About me and my therapy practice

I studied at Northern Guild and trained in Transactional Analysis. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Transactional Analysis is a modality of therapy which examines a person’s relationships and interactions with the purpose of establishing and reinforcing the idea that each individual is valuable and has the capacity for positive change and personal growth.

I also studied to work with couple's with a range of difficulties and presenting issues with The Counselling Academy.

I work with adults aged 18 and over, offering both short and long term work to achieve your therapeutic goals, from my home in the Eden Valley.

I work in person, by telephone or online, with appointments offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Friday mornings.

‘I believe that the goal of therapy is to become the best autonomous version of yourself that you can be, in whatever format that may take for you, to live your life as fully as possible.’ Alison Goldie

Practice description

I work from home in a quiet and rural setting. It is peaceful and comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere.

I have experience working with a range of presenting issues from general anxiety, to more complex trauma and abuse.

You are always in charge of the sessions, from how long you want to work together, to what issues you want to discuss and at what pace you want to work. I will never pressure you or push you to discuss anything you don't feel comfortable to, and equally anything you want to discuss you can bring to the room.

My first session

The first session is a chance for you to get to know me and decide if you think I am the right counsellor for you with no pressure to commit either way. It is a little more formal in order for me to gather information about you to enable me to decide if I also feel best suited to help you. In order to do this I complete an assessment form and ask you a range of questions centred around your background, physical and mental health, and what your ongoing needs are.

This first session is reduced, at £35 for the hour for individuals. For couple's this session is £50 for the hour.
