About me and my therapy practice
I am a MBACP Person-Centred Counsellor who provides short and long term counselling for children and young people. I am still working at the moment offering face to face counselling in Merseyside.
I have worked in schools for over 19 years, and have practised as Counsellor for over 12 years.
I have worked for over 17 years as a Learning Mentor, 3 years as a Pastoral Manager/Designated Safeguarding Lead. I currently work as a self-employed school Counsellor.
I have extensive experience of supporting children with a wide range of issues. I have worked with children and young people who have experienced family issues, bereavement and loss, trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, anxiety, self harm, and anger/behavioural difficulties.
I will not ask the child/young person probing questions, but will offer them a safe and non-judgemental space to allow them the opportunity to work through and explore any difficult feelings or issues that they are experiencing.
Practice description
I have a current valid enhanced DBS certificate (available to view on request).
I am a registered member of the BACP which means I am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practise in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I receive ongoing clinical supervision to ensure I abide by the framework.
If you have any further questions please message me.
My first session
During the first session I will introduce myself and discuss a counsellor/client contract. This will outline the length and content of the sessions and explain the legal and ethical boundaries of the counselling relationship.
If the counselling is taking place in a school it will also explain the limits of confidentiality in accordance with the school safeguarding policy and procedures.
