About me and my therapy practice
I recognise that finding a Counsellor can be daunting and that people come to counselling for many different reasons. Usually, they've tried to deal with their issues and problems by themselves and managed to get by or cope. Sometimes these burdens feel too much to bear and what used to work no longer does. If you are feeling stuck, powerless, and exhausted maybe counselling can help. "You cannot heal what has not been revealed" as the saying goes - so being able to express your thoughts and feelings without humiliation, shame, or guilt is the first step in ridding yourself of the burdens that are holding you back.
As a trained Counsellor and Coach, I work in an integrative way which means I combine different therapeutic approaches that work for you. Therapy can help you understand the past and what may hold you back, Coaching can help you move forward in a productive and fulfilled way.
I have worked with many different clients all of whom are unique in how they experience the world. Sometimes we just don't know what's wrong with us, maybe talking it out might just help.
I provide a unique place for you to explore your needs, thoughts, feelings, and fears without being judged, criticised or blamed. I'm not going to tell you what to do, or ask you how you're feeling every 5 minutes, but I will regularly review how things are going, to check that we are working in the right way for you.
I provide mainly online sessions via Zoom and Teams as well as What’s App and Telephone - this seems to work for most of my clients as it is less disruptive.
I offer counselling to adults only, and sessions tend to be 60 minutes long. Both short and long-term counselling is offered, depending on what you need. Flexible session times are also available, for those working a changing shift pattern.
I hold professional liability Insurance and regularly attend professional development workshops and regular clinical supervision.
I offer support in the following areas:
• Clients with heightened anxiety, addictions, substance abuse, relationship issues, childhood trauma, (C)PTSD and confidence issues resulting from lowered self-esteem, or when you're just not feeling yourself.
• Men's well-being issues (stress, anger, relationships, separation, health, intimacy issues).
• Workplace stress and pressure caused by a demanding boss, poor relationships or workload.
• Executive and career transition coaching.
My first session
I offer an initial 20 minute telephone consultation, free of charge, where you can explore how we might work together, what you can expect from me, and what you are hoping to get from the sessions. If you feel I am not the right Counsellor for you there is no obligation to go further.
If we do continue I will send you some paperwork in advance of our first session, outlining certain details such as confidentiality and notice periods.
In the first session, we will discuss your needs and agree on how we will work together, we will explore more about what brings you to therapy and what you might like to focus on in future sessions.
This may feel a little strange at first especially if you are not used to talking openly or freely. At your pace, we can begin our work together.
My fees are:
£55 per 60 minute session.
£35 per 60 minute session for Students over 18.
