About me and my therapy practice
I work as an integrative therapist. This means I have been trained in a number of different ways so that I can choose and offer clients the best way forward for them. For example, I currently use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for certain issues, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, adoption support work with individuals and families as I am an approved counsellor with Barnardo's Adoption Agency regulated by Ofsted. Please see my website for further details.
My practice is based in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, where I have a dedicated counselling room in a quiet, confidential area. I work face-to-face and by telephone. I also offer the option of counselling in Southampton should this be required. I offer a 20 minute free telephone conversation so that clients can then decide whether they feel they would benefit from further sessions.
My first session
In the first session we will meet and go through a few details about the counselling itself, for example confidentiality, fees etc.
My aim is then to listen to you carefully while you tell me what you are struggling with and what you would like and expect from counselling at this time. I appreciate that some clients can find the initial session a bit daunting, particularly if they have never been to counselling before.
Towards the end of the session I will give my response and initial, informal "assessment," and you can decide whether counselling is for you and whether or not you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor.
