About me and my therapy practice
I offer online counselling. I can meet you via Zoom or Vsee, or, speak to you on the telephone - you can choose whichever works best for you. I offer sessions on weekdays.
We know when something is not right but finding a way forward on our own is not easy when we have a million other things to think about day to day. I will listen, help you work out what has brought you to this point, what you want to achieve through counselling, and help you explore possible next steps. I would like to help.
I know from my own experience it’s a big step to think about talking to a counsellor, so I can offer a no charge and no obligation 20 minute introductory session to see if working together feels right for you at the moment. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about what might be involved.
I offer a single session to address a specific issue, as well as short term and long term working - we can discuss what you have in mind and then keep our work under review as we go along.
Before training to be a counsellor I practiced as an employment lawyer for over 20 years. My experience has given me insight into the potential stresses arising from work, conflict and change. What I loved best in my previous role was meeting clients, trying to appreciate their situation, and help them move beyond their difficulties. I still love working with clients but now as a counsellor. Alongside my private practice I am a volunteer counsellor in Edinburgh.
I work with clients online or on the telephone. I moved my practice online in response to the lockdown in order to carry on working with my clients. I have since undertaken extensive training and have experienced hundreds of hours of online working. I am confident it offers a valuable, convenient and effective alternative to face to face working. I am committed to offering online and telephone support long term. I am able to work with clients from anywhere in the UK who are looking for counselling support without having to travel to a counsellor.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute introductory session online or on the telephone so we can say hello, you can tell me a little more about what you are looking for support with and I can answer any questions you might have. If you would like to go ahead after that we can arrange a convenient time for our first 50 minute session (or a 60 minute session if you are only looking for a single session for a specific issue). We can work together as long as you find it useful - I have no minimum or maximum number of sessions. We will review how we are getting on as we go along.
