About me and my therapy practice
Due to COVID-19, I’m offering online (Skype/Zoom) and phone sessions so that people who are isolated can have mental health support.
Entering therapy can feel overwhelming but your concerns will be treated in a sensitive and professional manner. You will be in control of the depth and pace of our work.
I am an experienced Counsellor - I worked for several years in the NHS and charities. I see people with various presentations: depression, anxiety, unresolved childhood issues, to name a few.
Reasons for having Counselling
You might be trying to come to terms with life changes, including the loss of a loved one; are at a cross roads, trying to figure out what to do next; lost interest in life; or you are confused, trying to understand your feelings and who you are.
It is important that you can navigate through those difficult situations with the appropriate support to help you feel empowered to deal with present and future problems.
I have a Humanistic approach, but my work has evolved over the years by integrating other aspects from different theories and recent research in Neuroscience.
What to expect when entering Counselling
When starting therapy, I do a comprehensive assessment, as a way of having a richer picture of you and your world. This can provide some pieces to the puzzle of possible causes for your distress. We also discuss what are the main goals for therapy, which helps to keep our work on track.
Why Counselling is effective
An important principle, which is part of the Person-Centred Approach, is the belief in the person’s inner wisdom. My clinical expertise allows me to gently but effectively guide you into this journey.
Many of my clients report, at the end of therapy, of letting go of ‘old ways of being’ and living more authentically.
