About me and my therapy practice

During the Covid 19 pandemic and November lockdown, I am offering counselling sessions via secure video link or phone from the comfort of your own home. Call or email me to arrange a free 20 minute consultation.

I am a professionally qualified and registered therapist based in Farnham, Surrey. I have experience of working with both adults and teenagers 16+ with issues such as depression, generalised anxiety disorder, stress, self-esteem, bereavement, relationship issues and family dynamics.

I am currently offering individual online counselling from a calm environment, with an open and compassionate approach.

Finding the strength and courage to come to counselling may feel like a big step, but often it is helpful to talk to a trained professional who is not emotionally connected to you. We can find ourselves facing things which leave us feeling sad, confused, anxious, angry, stuck or isolated.

I am here to really listen to you and to help you find your own way forward.

"I felt comfortable speaking openly and honestly about anything I wished, without feeling judged and ultimately walked away from the sessions feeling happier in myself" H.S.

"Katy's caring human approach to everything we discussed, and the level of emotional intelligence she brought to all our conversations are just two of the many reasons I would recommend her to anyone looking to start therapy." M.D.

Practice description

Until it feels safe to resume face to face work, I am offering you remote counselling from the comfort of your own home, at a mutually convenient time.

Ideally, you need a quiet, private space where you won't be disturbed or overheard. I will also be speaking from a private space and I use headphones for extra confidentiality.

Once we have agreed a mutually convenient time and day I will either call you or we will connect on Zoom via a link I will send to you in advance by email. You do not need Zoom downloaded on your device for this to happen.

My first session

I would like to offer you a free 20 minute video or phone session so we can see how we feel working together.

I understand that it may feel difficult to make that first contact and to talk to a stranger, but professional support can make a real difference to how you are feeling. There is no shame in reaching out and asking for help. We wouldn't think twice about calling our GP if we were sick or a dentist if we had toothache.

In our first session I may talk more than usual, I may ask a number of questions; this is so that I can best understand where you are now and how you got to be there. I will also keep checking whether you would like to ask me any questions. I don't set an agenda. Counselling is a bit like you sitting in the driving seat with me sat beside you - it is your journey and we will move at a speed that is comfortable for you.

What I can help with

ADD / ADHD, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Anxiety, Asperger syndrome, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Depression, Disability, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, OCD, Personal development, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Sexual identity, Stress, Women's issues, Work related issues
