About me and my therapy practice

During the Covid 19 pandemic, I am offering counselling sessions via secure video link or phone. Call or email to arrange a free 20 minute consultation.

I am a professionally qualified and registered therapist based in Farnham, Surrey. I have experience of working with both adults and teenagers 16+ with issues such as depression, generalised anxiety disorder, stress, self-esteem, bereavement, relationship and family dynamics. I offer a calm environment, with an open and compassionate approach.

Finding the strength and courage to come to counselling may feel like a big step, but often it is helpful to talk to a trained professional who is not emotionally connected to you. Sometimes life is challenging and it is hard to cope alone. We can find ourselves facing things which leave us feeling sad, confused, anxious, angry, stuck or isolated.

I will be there to listen to your concerns and fears, and I will empathise with you. Counselling can provide the private space to reflect on emotional struggles and in time can help you reach a place of understanding, growth and fulfillment. As a 'humanistic' therapist I will be led by you and will support you to find your own way forward.

I offer individual face to face therapy to adults and teens over 16 years old on an open ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to live a fuller and more enhanced life.

Practice description

Until it feels safe to resume face to face work, I can offer you remote counselling from the comfort of your own home, at a mutually convenient time.

Ideally, you need a quiet, private space where you won't be disturbed or overheard. I will also be speaking from a private space and for video sessions I use headphones for extra confidentiality.

My first session

I would like to offer you a fee 20 minute video or phone session so we can see how we feel working together. This is important because it this gives you the opportunity to see if you feel comfortable with me.

I understand that it may feel difficult to make that first contact and to talk to a stranger, but professional support can make a real difference to how you are feeling now. There is no shame in reaching out and asking for help. We wouldn't think twice about calling our GP if we were sick or a dentist if we had toothache.

In our first session I may talk more than usual, I may ask a number of questions; this is so that I can best understand where you are and how you got to be there. I will also keep checking whether you would like to ask me any questions. Counselling is a bit like you sitting in the driving seat and I am sat beside you - it is your journey.
