About me and my therapy practice
I usually work from counselling rooms in the heart of Leicester, at the original Rutland House on Friar Lane, with ARC Counselling. Currently I plan to have limited face-to-face sessions available on Tuesdays & Fridays, in an environment that has been risk-assessed, with covid-secure measures in place. I will be regularly updating availability in accordance with government & professional guidance. Feel free to get in touch for latest availability of face-to-face sessions. So as to make counselling more accessible during the current pandemic, I offer online & telephone counselling. I've been a qualified & practising therapist in Leicestershire for more than 30 years, including 15 years in a medical (hospice) setting, 2 years in the UK prison service, 5 years with Relate, and more than a decade in independent practice and schools & colleges. I work with couples, individuals, young people & families and with clients living with the effects of childhood emotional, physical & sexual abuse. I consider client safety & confidentiality to be key factors in my counselling work, as well as sincerity & acceptance. My qualifications include – BA (Hons) Psychology & Sociology from the U of Tampa, Florida; MA (Dip) Death & Society from the U of Reading, UK; and Ad Cert in Systemic Therapy with Families & Couples from the Inst. of Family Therapy. You can contact me directly on 07928302448 or e-mail kb57@live.co.uk and I aim to respond to all enquiries by the following morning at the latest.
My first session
It’s useful to have an initial session to look at your current situation. Then I can let you know a bit about how I work, you can ask any questions you might have and think about whether you feel continuing counselling with me would be helpful, and I can consider whether I feel I can be of help.
