About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I work in private practice and due to the Coronavirus I currently offer both online (via video software) & on telephone counselling. I work with adult clients from age 18 and beyond retirement within the United Kingdom. I have the deepest commitment to offering a counselling service which is welcoming and supportive to all without discrimination. Whilst many aspects of our lives are paused, we still need to talk about the difficult times we face each day.
I listen to your words and how your experience is influencing your life. I will provide, to the best of my ability a non-judgemental environment in which you have time and space to perhaps better understand and gain insight into your situation. This process can lead to positive growth and change. I believe taking time for yourself, being heard in a safe space, can bring emotional healing.
If you are considering taking time for yourself and feel you could to speak to me, I invite you to call. We can talk about your needs, where you are with things at the moment without committing yourself to beginning therapy.
If we were to work together, I take confidentiality, integrity and security of your information seriously.
Advantages of online/telephone counselling
- You can have counselling without leaving your safe and comfortable home space.
- Perhaps you are unwell or do not want to travel
- Appointments are more flexible because neither of us needs to travel
- You can speak to a counsellor outside your immediate area
- You may find it more comfortable and easier to talk online
Having studied the available academic research I believe that online/telephone counselling can be as effective as face to face counselling.
I am trained in the person-centred therapeutic approach. For more information about this approach see:
I work with many issues that make us sad, anxious and afraid including cancer and other health issues affecting self or partner, spouse and family members and relationship difficulties. I recognise that particular times of year and stages of life can influence how our emotions affect us, perhaps bringing up anxieties we thought were over. It is very difficult to lose a pet and I recognise how this can affect every part of life.
I enhance this approach through Continued Professional Development in areas such as health and well-being, loss and relationships. I have undertaken postgraduate Focusing training in understanding the felt sense and effects on the body of emotional issues.
MSc in Counselling Psychology
BSc (Hons) Psychology
Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling
Certificate in Understanding Loss and Grief
My MSc academic research focused on carers and their well-being. I still have a deep interest in the needs of carers and how they are affected by their caring role.
I believe that everyone can benefit from counselling, whether its 1 session or 20 sessions. We all deserve to be heard, to share our worries and concerns with someone who listens, doesn’t judge or tell us what to do. Therapy can now be part of our lives as much as any other well-being activity. Take that first step and get in touch today.
My first session
I offer a free 15-20 minute telephone session - a space in which we can look at your counselling needs and agree a way forward.
If you decide to begin counselling we will arrange a time and day for your sessions.
Sessions can be via video software or on telephone
