About me and my therapy practice

I am able to offer both short and long term therapy for a broad range of needs and goals. We can work together once weekly or more, for an hour or more, alternative weeks/ monthly and in a range of settings: room based, in nature or with horses. We tailor the therapy to your individual needs and goals, combining a structured professional approach that will feel comfortable and safe.  I offer a range of psychological approaches and evidence based therapy to support your healing.

I specialise in working with young people and adults who have experienced trauma. This could be understood as complex trauma, complex PTSD, PTSD, ongoing or prolonged stressful/ traumatic or abusive events or a one off event, along with DID, self harm, sucicidality, addiction and Borderline/ Emotionally Unstable Personality disorders.

Successful therapeutic encounters are based on a strong, therapeutic relationship.  I value each person as an individual and nurture their process and ability to build on existing strengths. For a successful relationship to be built, I offer a comfortable environment that encompasses trust, empathy, a strong moral code of ethics and professionalism.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and thanks for visiting my profile.

" I hold the rich relationships and experiences gained through this work as a clinical supervisor as an important part of our process to enjoy together."

I am a qualified clinical supervisor with a doctoral training background in Counselling Psychology.  I am a registered member of the BACP; Graduate member of the BPS; Senior Member and Clinical Supervisor of the ACCPH and Registered Senior Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor of LEAP Equine.

I hope to offer a broad base for us to explore how best to support your professional goals and clinical practice; whether you are a trainee, qualified, or seeking to explore innovative ways of improving how you work.

I have worked in long-term private practice, as well as multi-disciplinary teams and the charity sector.  I am an associate providing psychological therapy for an international residential rehabilitation clinic in Holland, incorporating complex individual and family case work.  This is in conjunction with my work as an equine facilitated psychotherapist.  I currently and have previously supervised a broad range of practitioners, from in-training counsellors, transpersonal psychotherapists and clinical psychologists, as well as equine facilitated psychotherapists.

I have a strong formulative approach, providing a platform for evidence-based practice.  Trainee's in particular find this aspect very useful for improving technique and gaining confidence for integrating theory into practice in varying clinical settings.  I use Hawkins and Shohet's Seven Eyed supervision model as a base for our sessions to encompass a structured, systemic, yet process-orientated approach.

Practice description

My Client Practice:

In my own clinical practice, I specialise in working with young people and adults who have experienced trauma. This could be understood as complex trauma, complex PTSD, PTSD, ongoing or prolonged stressful/ traumatic or abusive events or a one off event, along with DID, self-harm, sucicidality, addiction and Borderline/ Emotionally Unstable Personality disorders. I am therefore adept at managing high risk cases. I also work with a broad range of presenting issues listed in-full below.

Clinical Supervision Practice:

I hold and model strong clinical boundaries to ensure you are supported in a safe, structured way. This is also essential for you to feel confident in bringing ethical dilemmas and safeguarding issues to sessions, as well as internalising the 'ideal clinical supervisor' within your own work. I hold the rich relationships and experiences gained through this work as a clinical supervisor as an important part of our process to enjoy together.

I have a list of publications that could not be added to this platform in their current text format (error message regarding string text), within the areas of trauma and the brain, equine facilitated psychotherapy, young people and a clinical supervision model available upon request.

My first session

What to expect:

I offer a free 15 minute phone call to see whether we think we might be suited to working together.

In our first supervision session, we outline your goals and requirements for supervision, and if appropriate start to build a supervisory contract together.

This session is also used to explore your strengths, and areas you'd like to improve, and again, whether you and I feel I am the right supervisor to support you.

We may agree to focus solely on our work in a clinical setting, or we may feel that incorporating some equine assisted experiential sessions for times/ areas you feel stuck might be useful.

Following this session, if you are still unsure about whether I am the right supervisor for you, there is no obligation to commit to future sessions.

Future work together:

I am able to collaboratively tailor the clinical supervision to suit you and your work as an individual or organisation:

  • Flexibility for duration and frequency (in line with BACP guidelines)
  • In a comfortable, private room-based setting
  • Experiential equine facilitated supervision, including constellations, body-based awareness and mindfulness-based practice in a private facility
  • Experiential nature based supervision
  • Online/ telephone
