About me and my therapy practice

Due to COVID-19 I am only working online or by telephone with people aged over 16 years old.

I’m a qualified counsellor with experience of counselling children, young people and adults.  I run a private practice from a comfortable room in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. I can help with a wide range of difficulties. No problem is too big or trivial.

I provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your difficulties and help you find your strengths. I listen with warmth and without judgement. I see my clients as whole people, so work with your mind, body, spirit and environment. I can also share some strategies that research has found to be helpful in managing difficulties such as flash backs, self harm and anxiety. However, I won't tell you how to live your life or what to do. I believe that with the right support you will be able to trust yourself to make the decisions and changes that are right for you.

I am a Humanistic Existential counsellor who also uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (a cognitive behavioural therapy). I also use elements of Transactional Analysis, a phased approach to trauma, Mindfulness, Attachment theory and Systemic theory. I am trained in the use of art and play techniques which can be useful to help clients to express themselves, get in touch with feelings and process difficult life events. I can tailor my approach according to your needs. 

I am trained in the assessment and treatment of chronic insomnia using CBTi. This the therapy that is recommended by NICE for the treatment of insomnia.
