At the moment, I am not seeing anybody face to face, due to the current situation with Covid 19. However, I have some current availability to work remotely via telephone or video calls. My fee for working in this way is £40 per session (50 minutes); whereas my usual fee for a face to face session is £50. Payment is by bank transfer, before each session begins.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified, experienced counsellor working in Aylesbury and the surrounding area. I work with both adults and young people. Most of my clients work with me on an open ended basis, which means that they can continue to see me for as long (or as briefly) as they wish. The sessions are weekly and at regular times. You will have a slot that is only yours: same day, same time, every week.
My approach is psychodynamic , which is based on the idea that present difficulties may have their roots in the past. Early experiences and relationships have a bearing on the way in which we deal with life and the types of relationships we form.
For many people, the sense of being listened to and feeling able to speak without being judged is significant and helpful. They find that by talking on a weekly basis, they begin to make sense of their feelings, to find answers to their problems and to reach a better understanding of themselves.
As a Member of BACP I work to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am committed to my own continuing professional development in the field. I am fully insured and my work is regularly supervised.
I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental place to talk where I can help you make sense of what you're going through by listening to your thoughts and feelings, by making links between them, offering observations and asking questions. For many people, the sense of being listened to, and being able to speak without having to be concerned about being judged is significant in itself.
As well as my private practice, I have worked for a charity that provides counselling services to young people under the age of 18, dealing with issues such as bullying, self harm, lack of self esteem, eating disorders and the effects of social media.
My first session
An initial session enables us to begin to get to know each other and see if working together is going to be a possibility. In the current unusual circumstances with Covid 19, I am able to offer a 15min Zoom, Facetime or telephone call in order to discuss what help you are looking for. There will be no charge for this.
We can then discuss the possibility of further sessions (50 mins) and timing. It is often helpful to work out a time-frame together from the outset, but nothing is set in stone, and we can always review how things are as they unfold. Shorter term work offers a more focussed approach to one or two particular concerns, whereas longer term work is geared towards reflection rather than reaction and therefore, we can take time to realise what change is needed to make a difference to one's life.
