Availability

I offer online counselling and at the moment have some availability for new clients.    My fee for working in this way is £50 per session (50 minutes).   Payment is by bank transfer, before each session begins.

If you would like to explore the possibility of online counselling with me, please send me an email and I will contact you to arrange an initial meeting  (which is FOC) to discuss your current situation.  We can think about whether you would like to have more sessions, if the timing is right, or if another service might be more suited to your needs.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified, experienced counsellor, working with both adults and young people.  Most of my clients work with me on an open ended basis, which means that they can continue to see me for as long (or as briefly) as they wish.   The sessions will last for 50 minutes and are weekly at a regular agreed time.  You will have a slot that is only yours: same day, same time, every week.

My approach is psychodynamic , which is based on the idea that present difficulties may have their roots in the past.   Early experiences and relationships have a bearing on the way in which we deal with life and the types of relationships we form.

For many people, the sense of being listened to and feeling able to speak without being judged is significant and helpful. They find that by talking on a weekly basis, they begin to make sense of their feelings, to find answers to their problems and to reach a better understanding of themselves and those around them.  This can lead to change and a greater sense of wellbeing over time.

Practice description

As a Member of BACP I work to its Ethical Framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy, and I am committed to my own continuing professional development in the field.   I am fully insured and my work is regularly supervised.

I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental place to talk where I can help you make sense of what you're going through by listening to your thoughts and feelings, by making links between them, offering observations and asking questions.

As well as my private practice, I have worked for a charity that provides counselling services to young people under the age of 18, dealing with issues such as bullying, self harm, lack of self esteem, eating disorders and the effects of social media.

My first session

An initial session enables us to begin to get to know each other and see if working together is going to be a possibility.   I am able to offer a 20min Zoom, Facetime or telephone call in order to discuss what help you are looking for.  There will be no charge for this.

We can then discuss the possibility of further sessions (50 mins) and timing.  It is often helpful to work out a time-frame together from the outset, but nothing is set in stone, and we can always review how things are as they unfold.  Shorter term work offers a more focussed approach to one or two particular concerns, whereas longer term work is geared towards reflection rather than reaction and therefore, we can take time to realise what change is needed to make a difference.
