About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Dimitrios, a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with many years of experience in helping people who are experiencing psychological and emotional distress. I offer individual evidence-based psychotherapy by working primarily using the CBT approach but integrating effective aspects of others such as the psychodynamic, schema or interpersonal where necessary. This is to ensure that the best possible therapy is delivered, tailored to the individual needs of each client in order to maximise the opportunity for an efficient therapy process that leads to positive, deep, and long-lasting outcomes.
In line with the ethical frameworks of the professional bodies, I belong to, I provide a confidential, secure, safe, non-judgmental, and unbiased space where exploration and understanding of your difficulties and concerns can take place.
I am friendly, warm, genuine, empathic and I give a particular emphasis to the importance of establishing a trustworthy and strong therapeutic relationship which I consider a therapeutic tool by itself.

My first session
During our first consultation I will carry out a clinical assessment where I will ask you questions with the aim of exploring and determining your problems and goals for treatment. Additionally, I often utilise clinical questionnaires to measure the severity of your difficulties and guide which therapeutic approaches will be most helpful and suitable for you. Following assessment, I will explain the treatment options and answer any questions you may have regarding therapy.
Initially, there are likely to be no ‘magic answers’ that will solve all of your problems quickly and easily. However, my goal is to gradually encourage you to find your own answers, solutions, methods that are right for you through a collaborative, dynamic and meaningful therapy journey. I am committed to supporting you to connect with your inner resources, develop coping skills and strategies and improve your self-awareness through making sense of the key connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. This process will enable you to overcome your difficulties and become a mindfully strong 'therapist of your own self' even after the treatment is over.
