About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with many years of experience helping people who experience psychological and emotional distress due to anxiety and depression. In line with the ethical frameworks of the professional bodies I abide by, I am offering a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space where exploration and understanding of your difficulties can occur. I am friendly, warm, genuine, and empathic, and I emphasise the importance of establishing a trustworthy therapeutic relationship, which can be used to promote the achievement of positive treatment results.
Initially, there are likely to be no ‘magic answers’ that will solve all of your problems quickly and easily. However, my goal is to encourage you to gradually find the rightest answers through a collaborative, dynamic and meaningful therapy journey. I am committed to supporting you in improving your self-awareness, getting a deep insight into your problems, connecting with your inner resources, and developing coping skills and strategies that will enable you to overcome your difficulties and become a mindfully strong 'therapist of yourself' during and even after the end of the treatment process.
I offer individual evidence-based psychotherapy by working primarily using the CBT approach and integrating aspects of others. This is to ensure that the best possible therapy is delivered, tailored to the individual needs of my clients, to maximise the opportunity for an efficient therapy process, which leads to positive and long-lasting outcomes.
Fields of my clinical expertise include assessments and treatments for adults and young people presenting with anxiety disorders such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), (PTSD), social anxiety, health anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia etc., depression, specific phobias, substance abuse, self-esteem issues, anger management issues and relationship, or familial difficulties".
"Mental health plays an equally important role as physical health in helping you lead a fulfilling life."Do not let your problems imprison you forever when there is an option to free yourself from them". I appreciate that finding a therapist and booking that first appointment can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, taking that first step can help you to lead a fulfilling life. Nothing is impossible for those who believe".
My first session
During our first consultation, a clinical assessment will be carried out, during which I will ask you questions to determine and explore your problems and treatment goals. Additionally, I often utilise clinical questionnaires to measure the severity of your difficulties and guide which therapeutic approaches or techniques will be most helpful and suitable for you. Following the assessment, I will explain the treatment options and answer any questions you may have regarding therapy.
Video (Zoom, Skype, Facetime) and telephone sessions in English or Greek.
